Sorry if this has been answered a thousand times....
What point in time is generally accepted as the beginning of Colt's pistol production with their new machinery, that everyone seems to feel brought build quality right back up where it needed to be? The reason I ask is because I purchased my 1991 Series Commander in mid-January, this year. Just wondering if this was before or after the change. As I have previously posted, I am more than pleased with the apparent quality of this gun...fit, finish, and function. I'm assuming it's one of the "new ones"? |

Even if you bought it five years ago...it is "one of the good ones" I just helped a friend pick up an NRM 1911 last Saturday. AWESOME is the only word I have to describe it. I picked my NRM up right after they went to the New ( actually OLD ) Roll Mark about five or so years ago and it has been nothing short of ....AWESOME!!!!! But honestly....the naysayers want you to believe that Colt has made some magical turnaround X number of years ago...and truthfully it is all bullshit. Pure, unadulterated bullshit. Colt, for the most part, has been turning out good stuff since the 1800s.....and they have continued to do so since then. Have they had screwups???? Certainly....but compared to some of the utter DRECK that is churned out by the other makers ( Springfield is my personal favorite DRECKMAKER ) Colt has been at the top of their game through that entire time. I've owned other brands.....buying the hype like a fool.....and I have worked on other brands..... that is why I carry a Colt. ( well... that and I know a thing or two ( or one hundred ) about manufacturing ) |

Well, okay. Like I said, I'm very impressed with the quality of the pistol. It's actually my first Colt. I've also had very good luck with all my DRECKS, er...Springers. My Pro is, in my opinion, an absolutely stellar pistol. My G.I., Mil-Spec and TRP were perfect out of the box too. But, I know I will definitely own more Colts!
Anyway, I'd still be interested to know when Colt started manufacturing with the new machinery. Thanks for the response! |

I've never seen an answer for this anywhere and Colt isn't much good with this type of info. They need to improve their public relations as it wouldn't hurt sales to do so. |

With all the reference to the subject, I was feeling like I was the only person who didn't know. One thing is for sure....they are making some great guns, even in the "starter" line like the 1991 series. |
