Buddy of mine wants to sell me what I think is a colt king cobra, blued, 2-2.5" barrel. Havent seen it in a while. 357 mag......what are they worth? He's asking 600. I don't want to resell but don't want to overpay.....only king cobras I've found are stainless.

If he is confusing it with a Python... pay the $600 and give him a big sloppy thank you kiss, just buy it, they run over twice that to start

Colt did make blued KC although they are in the gross minority production number wise.

I have a blued 4" that I actually sold and bought a stainless 4" and then traded the new stainless to get the blued gun back.

I would be all over a 2 1/2" blued KC for $600 assuming it is in VG+ condition.

If it's really a blue King Cobra in good shape, I would be all over it at that price!

There is just one on Gunbroker right now. With a buy it now price of $ 3895.00. So if you don't buy it from your friend real soon, chances are he'll sell it to someone else. King Cobras were mass produced in SS, and the common length is usually 4". It has the much desired 2.5" barrel and is in blue. Snap it up, and post pictures already.

Just don't screw your buddy over, a good friend is worth a lot more than a great deal on a gun.

Brandi, it is scary.... but I would tell him to sell it on broker, if he said no just give me $600 then ok

He asked me for 600 so he's obviously happy with that. I've helped him out with guns and ammo and probably given him that much in stuff in the past, a month ago Ihelped him build his first ar with my extra lpk and buffer tube assembly and gave him a carry handle sight. Our friendship has no monetary connection.

Geez dude --- do a little bit of research    ---    "don't want to overpay"  ---    Colt prices have been nutso for a while ---  $600 wont buy a Trooper anymore --- might buy a Detective Special,  but definitely wont buy any King Cobra if that's what it is

If its a LAwman snub, and in good condition, thtas also a good price  ----------  if its actually a King Cobra snub w/ blue finish -- 600 is a steal -----   The plain jane and ordinary stainless 4"ers sell for 1k now

My first pre-trooper Colt .357 was $150. $175 for a mint Dick Special, $300 for a Trooper Mark III and a NIB nickel Trooper III was $350

That .......... my friend , is the score of the day in my book ---------- you could double your money on that in a flash,  but I have a habit of holding onto my Colts myself - the prices have escalated too much in the past 3 or 4 years , if I sold one and wanted to replace it later, I never could

that is certainly a good deal.  I got the 4" blued version several years ago as the first gun i bought married.  It didn't seem like a good deal at the time..

I don't care for snubbies but you definitely made a great deal, congrats!

my uncle had a python IIRC (about a 6" blued .357 mag ) he traded it for an original HK 91 in good shape python was probably worth more but we both agreed that an HK 91 would be more versatile

Wow, that's a great deal. Best of luck with it.

If you dry fire it, buy some snap caps.
If the firing pin breaks, that's a required trip back to Colt for replacement, NOT a local gunsmith with a hammer and punch.

Look on Ebay and Gunbroker.  Those are available a lot of the time.
