I'm looking to buy three nice quality 1911 pistols (leaning to colt) for myself, brother, and father. Does anybody know how I would get sequential serial numbers or maybe even custom serial number?
Thanks |
| If you get custom guns from STI I think you can get whatever serial numbers you want. |

Custom shop is not accepting orders. |
| I posted a similar request a couple of weeks ago and am looking for four sequentials serial#'s Colt 1911's. One option is the Colt Custom shop but there is an upcharge for the sequential #'s and you have to locate a distributor who will place the order the order. |
| A LOT of places will NOT do sequential serials due to a higher probability of issues arising during the registration process. I was looking at ordering sequential Black Stainless Loaded Springfields and my local dealer wouldn't do it, and that was their reasoning. |

Here in Michigan we have to register our handguns, I had forgotten there are free states out there still. |

The Colt Custom Shop has offered custom serial numbers since the 1840's.
Contact the Custom Shop and talk to them about the details. You'll have to have the guns ordered by an FFL Dealer and they have to be shipped to him. The serial numbers will have to include BOTH letters and numbers to insure the serial numbers are unique and wouldn't be duplicated by another Colt firearm. One common method is to use your three initials as a prefix or suffix to numbers. http://www.coltsmfg.com/ |
