Any experience with these? Its for a 5" Springfield 1911. http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/images/pro_undercover.jpg |
| I just received The Comp-Tac Infidel which is similar, I got it with the belt clip which can be removed. I love it, comfortable to the point that I almost forget I'm wearing it. The only reason I would suggest the Infidel is because if you decide you don't like the attachments you can order other ones and change it completely. Just my 2 cents. |

i have one for a G19 (has the integrated, 1 piece "J" clip" though its compact, its simple, and for the most part, it does work--smooth and straight draw that said, my observations: its more suited imo for smaller firearms, lighter firearms (not really a full size 1911)--the reason is because of the belt clip while it does distribute the weight well, imo, the CTAC/MTAC offer more comfort and weight distribution because there are 2 clips and those clips spread the balance and weight over a greater area on the belt; that way, the larger holstered firearms dont sway or even move while you move for the smaller firearms, it stays put really well and conceals best now, the infidel and grukha are basically the pro undercover w/ that extra clip to help w/ the weight distribution, which is great imo; h/w, this leads me to the 2nd thing to consider (vs the CTAC/MTAC) and that is the width/bulk of the holster body itself; because the pro/infidel/grukha/etc have the big clip on the holster body, the entire holster itself has more width, etc--this doesnt usually bother most folks, but for me, if i had to choose, it would be MTAC for everyday, all-day comfort for the larger firearms another note: the pro-undercover lacks cant; while cant may make the draw slightly more awkward (since its not a straight downward and upward draw stroke for the arm/hand), a slight cantability DOES help w/ concealing the longer butts (esp on 5" 1911s) on the bigger firearms YMMV |

I carry a 5" 1911 in one. I got the slide version though to support multiple 1911 platforms. As Alphaghost pointed out, it does to better for support with the smaller ones. Just my build though, my micro cuts me right on the hip bone, whereas the 5" takes away from that. That said, overall, the 5" in more comfortable for me in the long run. I've had it for about 6 months, and honestly, IMO, it's not my go to holster. It has it's place/purpose, but certainly wouldn't be my daily carry. I much prefer my VMII and I will be buying an MTAC. Bottom line, it servers it's purpose, but I'm less than 100% thrilled with it and definitely not my go to, nor would it be my daily rig. |
