I am looking to get a pistol for concealed carry. I have narrowed it down to one of the following three:

  1. Glock 36

  2. Full-size 1911 (Along the lines of the SA mil-spec.)

  3. Glock 19

I have narrowed it to these three choices because of reputation, familiarity of the systems, and caliber. I will either go with .45 Auto or 9mm. But of these three I can't decided which has the edge over the other. The Glock 36 is simple, slim, and powerful, but lacks capacity. The full size 1911 is powerful and all right on capacity, but is heavier and larger. The Glock 19 is wider than the others and a little larger than the 36, but it has great capacity and is simple.

What do you guys think?

I'm partial to the 1911.

Get the right belt and holster the weight becomes a non issue in my opinion. The only downside a 1911 has compared to newer pistols is capacity. With higher capacity comes a wider frame which means decreased concealability.

19. It is the only glock ...well except for the 21 and 17.

I love the 1911 and my Kimber is unbeliveably accurate but I am faster with the Glock..

Both other guns mentioned are great guns....

With that said, Glock 19 hands down.  My G19 is my do anything handgun because it does everything that I will ever need a handgun to do.

Glock 36 hands down.  I own a G19 and a G36 and they're different guns for different missions.  Personally, I don't like the heft of a fully loaded G19 compared to a 6 or 7 round G36.  Plus, I'd rather have a 45 at my disposal.
