As the title says, I've found a very nice, gently used G35 at my little local gun shop. I was in the market for another 1911 but have been eyeballing a Glock for a while and I had narrowed it down to either a G34 or G35 whichever I could find first. I've done several internet searches looking for reviews and every one was favorable, but I have heard about certain generations of Glocks possibly having issues. Is there anything to avoid with a G35? I found a date of March 2003 on the paperwork that came with the gun. I know Glocks are one of the most reliable and durable ever made but I'm not as familiar with them as I've been primarily a shotgun shooter for years.
This will be my IDPA gun along with my 1911 plus I'll use it as a carry gun as well. Any personal opinions or reviews would be appreciated; I'm heading to the gun store tonight to make a decision about getting her or a Beretta M9. Thanks in advance! |

I have a G35 and love it.
It's accurate, soft recoiling, comes with the oversized controls, and the 3.5 lb trigger. The only thing I changed was the addition of trijicon sites, as mine did not come with night sites. If it's in good condition and the price is right, jump on it, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I keep talking about it, but never do it, but want to get a . 357 Sig barrel for it for poops and giggles. The only downside is to the .40 S&W round is really scarce in my neck of the woods right now...and unless you reload (IF YOU CAN FIND &%* PRIMERS)...ammo can get a touch pricey. 9mm still has a bit of luxury of being less expensive on the ammunition. My wife has my G35 on the nightstand when I travel, and she used it recently to qualify for her CHL license. I don't carry mine very much as I have a G23 for that...but all in all, I love it and want to buy a G34 to match it. Sir Hacksalot |

Thanks for the input. I figured it was GTG since no review I managed to find had anything negative to say about it.
I kind of wish it was a 9mm, but if I ever branch out to USPSA I can make Major with the 40 and I do reload so I can tone down the 40 to make minimum power for IDPA without too much problem. 40 cal is actually easier to find around here than 9mm and 45. Hopefully I'll have a pic or two to share by tonight. Thanks again |

I'll try and have a range report when I get the chance. Our IDPA match has been canceled so I'll have a couple of extra $$$ to buy myself a nice holster for it. I'm thinking either Sidearmor or Blade-Tec IWB. I have a Blade-Tec IWB for my 1911 and I really like it.
And thanks again for the input |

Can you all school me on the 9mm conversion barrel for the G35? Is it a special barrel or would a stock Glock 34 barrel pop right in? LW makes one. You can not use the stock 34 barrel in a 35. Just plop the conversion barrel in it and get some 17 mags and blast away. Be aware, you can not use a conv barrel in SSP IDPA. |
