I recently purchased a Gen 3 Glock 23 with the intentions of running a conversion barrel to 9mm. I have seen on countless forums where people advise against running just a conversion barrel and not changing the extractor and ejector as a carry gun. Would it be more cost effective to just buy a complete slide thats a 19, buy a conversion barrel, or just save up and buy a full 19? I love shooting my 23 but ammo prices tell my bank account otherwise. My LGS has a Storm Lake conversion in for 135 which is neither great or bad. I'm a newbie looking for advice, Thanks in advance!!!

All though my G23 9mm conversion runs 100% just swapping in the barrel and using 9mm mags I would NOT carry it in this configuration unless I had no other choice.

If you want cheaper shooting just buy a barrel and mags. If you want something for carry/SD that shoots 9mm get the G19.

complete slides are hard to come by and if you can they are around 300 to 350

I think the 9mms work fine with the 40 ejector but the 40's don't work well with the 9mm ejector.  So not an issue in your case.  I have never had issue with my 40-9 conversion barrels.

what does the maker of your conversion barrel recommend???...I have a G23 with a Storm Lake conversion barrel...the barrel and magazines are all that is required...the barrel is designed to run with the .40 S&W parts in the frame...you may even have issues with reliability changing other parts if they are not needed...

I have and do on occasion carry mine with the conversion barrel and magazine in 9mm and I have had no issues with quality ammunition in mine...

My barrel is also a StormLake. I'll go ahead and run it as is. Thanks
