Is there a conversion for the Walker .44 or other black powder pistols making it capable of shooting regular cased ammunition?

Not for the Walker, no.

Seems like the conversion cylinders start with the New Army & New Navy models? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. IOW, no top-strap on a gun, no conversion cylinder.

I'm sure you can google them, but Dixie Gun Works is THE end-all, be-all for all things that smoke, IMO.

If one was made for the Walker, I'd buy both in a NY minute. I've wanted a Walker since I saw one in "True Grit", but *I* don't want to mess with BP or muzzle loading.

Sorry I wasn't more help.

There are some conversions for open top revolvers. IIRC, a couple of different companies offer replicas of the open top revolvers that use cartridges instead of loose powder and ball.

I think I'd rather have the second revolver...quicker reload & all that.  Hey, it worked for Eastwood in The Outlaw Josey Wales  Of course, toting around the extra 4.5lbs of Walker Colt might make your pants droop a bit.
