If you take a basic .45 frame, can it be converted to 9mm by doing the following? 1) Mill Frame for Ramped Barrel 2) Install a 9mm Ejector ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obviously a new 9mm slide would have to be fitted, etc. Thanks. |

If you want to install a regular 9mm barrel, all you need to do is change the ejector. Milling for a ramped barrel is optional - non-ramped barrels are more common. This is the same for conversions to .40, .38 Super, 10mm, etc. The only change on the frame side is the ejector (and appropriate mags, of course). |

Caspian's website shows the difference in feedramps between the two types of frames (9mm vs .45 acp). Have you done this type of conversion before personally? I am not sure why there would be a structural difference in the built in feedramps if all you had to do was change ejectors. Not trying to be difficult. I just want to be sure. Thanks. |

My 9x23mm does not require a ramped barrel. I have put together some pretty stout loads in 9x23 Winchester cases, with out any problems. This is with Winchester brass, which is thicker. A ramped barrel might be appropriate for the Starline brass, and in other calibers as well, if pushing the envelope. Totally unnecessary for 9x23mm Winchester brass. |
