I have a Colt Delta Elite Chambered for the 10mm Rem Mag. Since ammo and reloading components are relatively rare and expensive, I have been wondering what it would take to convert the weapon to a 45.

Obviously the barrel and the magazines. Does anyone know if the frame and slides are the same?

Thanks,

I'd reccomend selling it and getting a .45.

That being said, it will require changing the entire slide assembly, the barrel and the ejector on the frame.

You're probably right, it's not worth converting. I guess I'll keep it and build a 45 from the ground up. Who do you think makes the best frame/slide?

I really think it's a matter of personal preference. The biggest difference (IMO of course) is the finishability of the frames and slides. Cast is great for matte finishes, where for high polish blue you really need forged or barstock.

With the .45 ACP round, you shouldn't have a longevity problem with any reputable makers.

Chip McCormick and Les Baer both sell top quality FORGED frames and slides

Caspian stuff is awsome.

Your kidding about 10mm components and reloading supplies being rare right? While not as common as 9mm or 45acp they are not hard to find and not much more in price. Check out double tap ammo for cheap FULL power 10mm ammo.
