Guns are cool.  Everytime a Hollywood basketcase who plays a cop on TV is interviewed, they do as they're told and say "Guns aren't cool".  We know better.  We know horses are cool, bikes are cool, cars are cool, trains are cool.  Powerful stuff is cool.  Question to the arfcom community:  What is the "coolest" gun?  Not the most powerful, most reliable, most historic, most effective.  What gun just carries the mysterious 'cool factor'.   Possible contenders would probably include the Desert Eagle, the Peacemaker, the PPK, the Luger, and a few others which qualifiy for various reasons.  Is there even a coolest model?  Maybe the coolest title has to go to a specific gun.  A certain pistol set apart by it's finish, engraving, or some unique accessorizatoin.  What do you think?

I'm looking for input, and there will be no official award, but I'm ruling out production Glocks, 1911s, and DA revolvers unless there is somethin very unusual about one particular gun.  Pitch in.

Wow. Rifle ammo. That's so wrong it's hilarious.

Most pimp cool, Deagle.

Old fashioned cool, 1911.

How can you rule out non-special 1911's and allow standard Peacemakers. Both are definitely cool. Are you looking for esthetics, seviceability, or a

combination? IMHO, Desert Eagles would be near the bottom of the list.

My personal preferences:

1911

S&W model 25, 27, 29

Colt Python

Glock, XD/XDM, P226 Combat TB, and similar

Colt & Ruger SSA types

Colt Anaconda

Glock 18
Little tiny pistol in Men In Black (LOL)
Colt Python - very sexy
Any pistol carried by Angelina or Milla J

just a few that come to mind.

Any guns I carry are cool (at least to me). If they weren't "cool" I wouldn't carry them.

For example, this is what I would consider to be "cool". Keep your 20 shot pea shooter. This baby will leave 64 .30 caliber holes in whatever it hits (that is 2 -3" magnums and 1- 2 3/4"  #1 buckshot loads). It has a pattern SO wide that you practically can't miss. I'm now working on a way to carry it.

I've always thought the PPK/CZ 83/Sig P232 was very cool.

I also second the guy that said the little gun in Men in Black was cool because it was so powerful.

I must respectfully disagree.

That being said, a large American revolver from the 1960s-70s should fit the bill.  Smith N-frame (I like the Model 25 in .45 Colt, but a 29 in .44 Mag is more classic) or a Colt Python.

My two favorite guns, which I own, are the FN45 Tactical!  15+1 rounds of 45 acp, threaded barrel, and milling for a reticle.  Very accurate in my hands and handles very well for me.  The other is my Witness limited in 10mm.  ISPCA competition ready.  Megga bling factor!  (Mine has the alluminum grips)  10mm awesomeness.  I just love the round.

Any scholfield style revolver.  Got a berretta in 45 long colt. wich is polished nickol.  Absolutely beautiful!
Always like the HK Mark 23!  Just awesome!
HK USP MATCH.  Yeah the one's Angelina Jolie carried as tomb raider.  Havn't found one for sale yet!

I can rule out production this and that because it's my post

Maybe after we collect a few suggestions I'll throw a poll up.  I'm thinking the ulimate winner may be that neato Russki-Frog revolver that cranked the cylinder up to the barrel as it prepared to fire.

Edit because publik skool

MP5s, 1911s are both very cool guns, the Thompson would also rank high on the list along the Barret XM107 and the BAR. The 1911s from Two Face were cool along with ones carried in Public Enemies. The Desert Eagle is cool too, but not really practical. The battle rifles from Starship Troopers were also cool, unlimited ammo, and a shotgun underneath.

Of the one's I own, I love my Ruger Mark III Hunter.  Much customization is possible with that platform.  Wish I could go with a suppressor on that one.  I also love my S&W Model 41 target pistol.  What a classic.

I vote for the Walther PPk.  They got it right the first time.  James Bond factor of course as there is not now nor ever before anyone cooler.  In fact, he could give the Fonz cool lessons and Chuck Norris goes to him for lessons in pistolcraft and karate.  Besides, its small enough to carry all day in any weather conditions, large enough and accurate enough to actually fight with, and just powerful enough to actually have some confidence in without overpowering the user due to small size and light weight.  Like I said, they got it right the first time.

I assume since we're in the Handguns section, we're going to limit this to handguns only?

Anything full auto gets automatic cool points - Glock 18, Beretta 93, etc.

Coolest looking to me would be the Desert Eagle.  It's so big and ominous, plus that semi-triangular slide is pretty unique.  Open-class "race guns" are up there, too.  I remember thinking Beretta 92s looked really cool as a kid.  The exposed barrel and the muzzle protruding past the end of the slide were so different from everything else...plus John McClane used one.

I think my Glocks are cool because they were cheap and can efficiently and reliably put holes in whatever I aim them at.
