"Any loss of accuracy by shortening the barrel?" Shooting off hand standing it shoots one and one quarter inch groups with ease at fifty feet. It helps that it gets shot weekly and only leaves my gun bag for cleaning and shooting. A short barrel doesn't necessarily make a gun in accurate but the short sight radius is more likely to bring out the human factor that requires more quality practice. Î |
TacSol 2211 upper on a dedicated frame. Frame was from a donor ATI 1911 that I stumbled onto at a gun show. I'd been using the upper on my Kimber Team Match's frame but I always planned on building up its own frame from scratch. The ATI gun had features that I wanted (namely the rail and checkering) and was cheap enough that I took a chance with it rather than buying a raw frame. I tossed the 45 upper and all the guts in a spare parts bin, installed EGW fire control parts, and lapped the 2211 upper to the frame until it was smooth enough to function 100%. It's a shooter. |
