Can perfection be made any better?

I'm talking about match grade barrels, the 3.5 pound connector, titanium firing pins, firing pin safety or plunger, completely new trigger assemblies, guide rods?

The list can go on and on.  My question is what do these things do to make the Glock better?  What modifications can be done to enhance a carry pistol?

Match grade barrels may improve on your accuracy. They also let you shoot lead which means you shoot more often, which means you get better at shooting.

3.5 lb connector lightenes the trigger pull, so you dont pull your aim as far off.

Titanium firing pin speeds up the firing pin travel time/lock time. The time frame between when the trigger disengages and the firing pin strikes the primer. Lessening the chance that you pull the barrel off target.

Lighter firing pin safety and plugers smooth out the trigger pull, part of the trigger pull is to disconnect these safetys.

I use the lone wolf adjable trigger. It removed overtravel so you can do double and triples faster.

Steel Guiderods dont flex as much, and allow you to adjust the recoil springs to your taste.

Most of this stuff is NOT needed on a carry pistol. Its for target/match shooting.

For carry/defense? Sights and trigger-pull to your liking and then leave everything else alone –– don't mess with success.

For range/fun/competition only? Pimp that thing out to your heart's content!

JMHO, YMMV.

Good holster, night sights of choice(3 dot, staight 8's, big dot), mags, options = 3.5 connector, ext. slide stop. That's it. Match grade barrel not needed for carry, spend the money on ammo.

AMMO, mags, night sites (I got Meprolights), and holster & mag carrier.  I suggest just shoot it and if a problem occurs THEN look for a solution.  In my case I needed different sites because of my vision.  The Meprolights are spot on while the XS Bigdots are a little overkill for me.

When I first got into GLOCK, I had to have all the aftermarket widgets......but I always, eventually went back to stock.  Now the only modification I make is quality sights....mags...and holster.  I would rather throw extra money toward quality SD ammo.

GLOCK barrels are very high quality.  I just do not see the need to replace it...of course, I only shoot FMJ.

For all around fun, I'd get a good pair of sights (TruGlo TFOs if you want night sight capability) and the simple and cheap trigger mods I listed before (reprinted below for convenience).  That, plus extra mags, a decent holster, and as much ammo as you can carry and you should be good to go.
All you need
is a 3.5# connector and a Competition Trigger Spring for a lighter and crisper
trigger. Much of the 'slack' (pre-travel and over travel) will be eliminated
and you'll love your new trigger. Best of all is that its both cheap (under
$20) and so easy you can do it yourself.

3.5#
Connector:
I've
tried Glock, Scherer, and Lone Wolf 3.5# connectors in my Glocks and Lone
Wolf's is the best hands down because it gives you the best 'break' with less
takeup and over travel. You can get it from Glockparts.com for $13 HERE.

Comp
Trigger Spring:
The
Comp Trigger Spring is a higher weight spring (6lbs vs 5lbs) and because the
spring works with you pulling the trigger, not against you, the higher
spring weight gives you a lighter and crisper pull. Glockparts.com has them for
$5 LINK.

While you’re
at it, give your Glock a 25¢ trigger job by following the instructions HERE. Its
really quite simple to do and you’ll be pleased with the results.

For
instructions on replacing your connector and trigger spring, as well as
disassembling your Glock, check out Glockpart's Disassembly Page. Just click
"Disassembly" on the left of his home page. They give instructions
with photos to help you do it. Glocks are simple to work on so give it a try.

Thanks for the replies!  Theres some great advice on here.  Makes me want to get a glock 34 or 35 and turn it into a range queen.
