Is their any reason why I shouldn't buy a 10 inch Dan Wesson 44. It is blued and in good shape. It has no other barrels or the tool, but it would only cost me about $300. Is this the deal I should jump on or should I wait for a Ruger or something else? I don't really have a need for it, but it seemed like a great opportunity to break into the big bore pistol game.

With the 10" barrel I suspect that would qualify as a smokin' hot deal.
That's like buying the barrel and getting a free gun.  Barrel tools cost about $40-50 and can be obtained from CZ-usa as well as e-bay.

The real question is do you have a use for a .44 mag with a 10" barrel?  Then again, at that price it's a hell of an excuse to take up metallic silhouette.

If you want a good .44, go for it. CZ-USA has had spare barrels. I shot silhouette with a 744 with the heavy 8" barrel. When I stopped, I got a light 6" barrel from CZ. It now weighs about 56 oz. and is the most accurate .44 I have.

Wow, a 10 inch barrel seems long, but you could probably buy a shorter barrel if you wanted which is a plus for the DW firearms and you would probably still come out ahead.
