Just wanted to offer my thoughts and observations on my Dan Wesson Valkyrie.  I've had it for about a month, I purchased it new.  I have now put hundreds of rounds through the gun and haven't had a single issue.  The trigger is great, the safety firmly clicks on and off, and the the sights are great in bright sunlight or low light situations.  I haven't shot it in pure darkness, but I have shot it in low light.  The sights have a single tritium dot in the rear and in the front, easy to line up.  The grip checkering is fantastic, as are the grip panels themselves.  They don't let your hand move.  I am however considering switching them out because hey are uncomfortable against bare skin for periods of time if you are moving around.  If you wear an undershirt with an IWB holster (as I do) it isn't an issue and the gun wears nicely.
Ive put 200 rounds of Winchester White box through it.
200 rounds of magtech through it.
100 rounds of Remington Golden Sabers
50 Rounds of Federal HST +P
100 Rounds of Federal HST standard pressure
20 Rounds of Corbon DPX 185 +p

The only issue i've had is that one of the stock magazines (Checkmate) is splitting at the seam when loaded.  I haven't contacted CZ yet but I'm not thrilled about that.  Obviously that is separate from the gun, but you would expect top tier products to come with a 1800 dollar gun.  Even with the mag splitting the gun still runs 100% with it.  My gun came with 8 round mags, their website says it should be 7.  If anyone has any input on this id be interested.
The gun is accurate and has been 100% reliable.  Mine isn't bobbed.....I'm mixed on that being either good or bad.  That issue aside I completely recommend this pistol.

Nice buy.

I would contact Keith Lawton, the VP at Dan Wesson, about that magazine. He usually personally handles things like this. Their customer service is second to none. He usually responds to emails within a couple hours during the workday. Maybe attach a picture of the magazine and let him know you did in the email. They'll probably send a replacement.

I was just about to make a thread about the Valkyrie. I think it may be a good gun for my wife's small hands and a good carry gun for me.

Congratulations.

DW's are very nice pistols.

Accurate aren't they?

I recommend you put lock-tite on the sights.

DW sights are known to come loose and the front sight pin can come out.

Thanks for the responses everyone.  I will consider putting lock tite on, and I will send an E mail out about the magazine.  Ill update if I get a response, or if I go through with the lock tite.

I was worried about spending that much on a gun that has both positive and negative reviews online, as far as reliability goes, but so far so good.

You are saying you can get 8rds in compact 1911 mags?

M15 - I don't know very much about 1911s.  All I can say is that my pistol came with 2 flush fitting 8 round mags.  I'm sure other people can be more helpful on this topic.

Those mags should be 7 or 6 rounds for the officer frame 8 rds would  damage them.
