Dear HK,

Please make me a P30 with a manual thumb safety, just like the one on the new HK 45 and Hk45C.

You can leave the de-cocker where it is.

I know you can't export tritium night sights, but have them installed when the reach HK-USA.

Lastly, PLEASE make me a smooth trigger, with a decent enough take up, and short, positive reset.

Best Regards,

Many HK pistol consumers

At least HK ears aren't deaf like Glock, which just pumps out one cookie cutter stamped gun and if it doesn't fit your hands, or you want a manual safety, or DA/SA with a decocker, tough crap.

As for price, you pay more, but you get more options to fit your personal choice in trigger/action, and grip.

I'd love a P30 with a manual safety.  That would be bitchin'.  I'm not into an HK45 just because I'm not that into .45.

I don't mind HK hates us and thinks we suck.  When it comes to that I tend to agree with them.

A Glock is a Glock.  That's how they are.  They have no interest in marketing infinitely customizable pistols with dozens of factory options and operating systems like Hk does.

I personally have no interest in a Glock with all that crap.  A Glock doesn't need a decocker, as it can't be cocked anyway.  The safety us useless because the gun can't go off without anyone pulling the trigger.  If you want a gun with an idiot switch, buy an Hk, Sig, Ruger, 1911, or any of the other dozens of pistols out there that have those options.

In other words, if you got a pistol with all those options, it wouldn't be a Glock.

Last time I checked, the HK was far from customizable.
As a matter of fact, the glock has way more aftermarket options then the HK.

Good point.  I was mostly referring to the options available for the USP.  Then there are Walthers adn XDSs with the grip change stuff.

How surprising that this turned into an HK bashing thread with a bunch of the "because you suck" stuff in it.

Like a broken record...

Anyhow, HK is just like Glock in this regard.  If it doesn't satisfy a LEO or MIL contract, they won't make it because that is where the big money is.

And if you classify them as hating civilians because they won't make a P30 with a manual safety, then you should be furious at Glock for not offering all the things that some customers have asked for.  Nobody has been as unflexible in this regard as Glock, IMO.

I wish they would come out with a damn P30 in 40 caliber with a 14.5x1mm LH threaded barrel... but I completely understand that there isn't a huge market for it.

Ever called HK's customer support?

I have.

They hate us.

Yes, I have.  And each time have been treated very well.  They have fixed my broken HK box, sent me a free USP hammer when I told them one was missing from a match trigger kit I bought from a 3rd party, they were quick to send me the ambidextrous control lever I called them for, the Jet Funnel baseplates I needed, the damn extractor pin I lost, etc, etc.

Have you called in the last 10 years?

The only bad thing I can say about their customer service is that they don't ever seem to have enough parts.  They need to organize that better.

I would own an HK if only standard capacity mags were readily available and didn't cost so much.  I like to stock up on about 20 mags per pistol -- and at HK's cost it's just unbearable.  I can deal with a high cost of entry for the pistol, but I want readily available mags and spare parts.

Plus I'm a lefty, so I would want the safety lever/decocker on the right side of the gun.  I know this is possible, but when I ask at the gun stores nobody seems to know how to do it or how to get the parts.

It's pretty easy to do yourself, and getting the parts can be done by calling HK-USA.  That's not in an attempt to urge you to run out and buy an HK, it's just a statement I thought I'd make to you.

The mag prices absolutely suck.  But as long as people buy them for that much, they will stay at that price.

Good to know - thanks!  Everybody I've asked didn't have a clue.  But then again, it was at a gun shop and that's one of the worst places to go for knowledge.

They still hate you.

When I called about 8 years ago to get a match trigger for my fullsize usp it was quite an order. Plus it was really expensive and it hardly did anything vs. the stock trigger.

If I'm going to spend $800 on a handgun, it better damn well have a good trigger.

First off, you shouldn't ever pay $800 for a stock USP unless you enjoy getting ripped off.  The price for a new one around here is $625, and I just bought a brand new USP tactical with adjustable night sights for $740.

Secondly, the match trigger most certainly makes the trigger much nicer than the stock USP unless you installed it yourself and didn't install it correctly.  It's usually the creep at the beginning of the trigger that people can't stand.  Is that your issue?

And I figured I got the timeline about right with your call to HK CS
