I have an M&P40 full size, made in 2012, that came with the worst trigger you can imagine.  So bad that I had to shelve the gun until I could get an Apex kit for it.  It now has the Apex Duty Carry AEK in it which took care of the gritty kitty litter trigger and improved that part of it 100%.

So now I'm considering the other issue that bugs me, the way the trigger works.  For some reason when I put my finger right on the middle of the trigger where it instinctively feels like it should be, it not smooth.  If I move my finger down a little bit towards the bottom third of the trigger it becomes perfectly smooth as every trigger should.  I've read of other folks having similar issues and they swapped out the trigger itself for an Apex model.   The polymer trigger is more rounded and looks like it would be more comfortable but that's just a guess.

Anyone had similar issues with their M&P and swapped the factory trigger for an Apex?  If so, did it fix the problem?  Did it create any other issues?  Did you choose the Apex AEK aluminum or polymer trigger?  Do you recommend the aluminum or the polymer and why?

A lot of questions I know but I really need and appreciate any information you could provide.

Thanks in advance!!!

The only part I swapped out on my M&P45 was the poly trigger. The APEX poly trigger completely changed the way I look at the M&P and wouldn't own one without installing one. I do not like the standard factory trigger at all.

I have the poly trigger, hard sear, & heavy trigger return spring in 2 of my M&P's and they are glockish feeling if you like that. My biggest issue with bad m&p triggers (not all are bad) is the hard break with the free play behind it. It causes me to move my sights. My goal was to even out the weigh throughout the the trigger press sort of DA style. The above parts did that fairly well.

Hopefully all that made sense

Thanks.  I think I'm going to shoot it awhile with the factory trigger now that the DCAEK is installed and see how it goes.  If it still doesn't feel right I'll probably swap it out for the Apex AEK polymer trigger.

The Apex polymer trigger definitely helps.

I have a DCAEK and a poly trigger on my FS 40.

The gun is quite nice now.

In my opinion, the hinged OEM trigger is a piece of shit that feels all wrong.
The Apex poly one is light years ahead in terms of feel and function.

Probably the right decision.

I have the DC/AEK setup in my 9c.  I like it a lot.  Feels like a better/crisper version of a stock Springfield trigger.
