About a two weeks ago, I ordered a custom bushing and plug from EGW. My Springfield Mil-Spec .38 Super gun has been in a sort of slow customization for a while. First thing I did was remove the arched MSH and replace it with a flat unit from Ed Brown. I have a box full of parts for it, including a titanium mainspring cap from EGW, a titanium hammer strut from STI, a Heinie trigger, Ed Brown extended thumb safety, EGW stainless steel GI recoil guide, and an EGW heavy duty slide stop.

The hammer strut, safety, and trigger will have to wait til I get in the rest of the fire control parts, so in the meantime...

My Springfield was fitted pretty loosely. The barrel OD was .696", but the bushing ID was .585". The bushing OD was .696", and the slide ID was .703". Definitely room for some improvement. I gave EGW the dimensions over the phone, and in about a week and a half, I got the UPS shipping notice. It's not exactly a drop in fit. In fact, it was very very tight in the slide. After quite a bit of time with some sandpaper, I got the bushing fitted to the slide. It took quite a bit of handwork to get it to start slipping in and out, but still requires a bushing wrench to turn. Next, it was time to get the plug in. The holes on my slide are closer than the bushing and plug are machined for, so it took a bit of sanding to sand a flat stop on top of the plug to get it able to slip in and out. Next, because the holes were too close, the bushing required a bit of sanding on the bottom for the plug to pop in and out and index properly. This is the result:

Overall, I'm very pleased. The barrel doesn't rattle in the slide more than the slide rattled on the frame anymore, which is nice. The gun also locks up much tighter now, with a bit of a pop as it goes into battery. I'm also pleased with the stainless steel recoil guide. It's nicely machined, fits the frame perfectly, and because it's solid, is a bit heavier than the guide the gun came with.

I also had good luck with my EGW bushing. It did let me find out that the staked front sight was sticking into the slide a little by not going in all the way.

Other than that, it fits tight. I just kinda wish I'd have known that it was the thick bushing. I wanted a thin GI bushing. Ah well.

when you order from EGW you can chose thick or thin.

This is the beveled carry bushing.

My experience with them was similar.  The bushing was oversized.  I had to sand the slide to get the bushing to fit.  Both bushings on two different guns, and my caliper is calibrated.  I didn't use a gauge pin that would have been a slightly better method of measurement.

Better that then too loose though.

Dammit! They just added that to their site in the last month or two. That box at the bottom wasn't there when I ordered (the one where you can choose thin). Looks like I just might order another bushing then. Thanks for calling me on my mistake!

OP, that Superman plug looks pretty good in there. I like how the carry beveled bushing looks on your pistol.
