Anyone know the difference between these 2 coatings? Which is better and why? I just paid off a Glock 17 with what I thought was NIB-X as the sales tag advertised but inside the box has a TALO EXO label in it so they just mixed up what was actually on the gun. Just wondering how good the EXO coating is compaired to NIB-X. Thanks for any info!

TALO Glocks are EXO coated by Fail Zero, which I thought was the same exact thing as Nickel Boron.  But I'm not sure how NiB-X differs from NiB.  I'm sure someone will be along to clarify.

But in the mean time, check out Fail Zero's site for more info on EXO coating: http://www.failzero.com/

They're either the same or extremely close to the same.  Both are electroless nickel boron coatings.   CCR makes CPII and it's also pretty close to the same.   I have 4 guns by CCR and the coating seems pretty impervious to wear.   I have a G30 with thousands of holster presentations and probably 3-4k rounds through it since it was refinished and it still looks new.

I was always of the opinion they're one in the same.....Failzero is where mine will be going hopefully this summer, though buds has a few in from time to time.........

WMD Guns does the NiB-X and I believe they were started by former FailZero guys...

Thanks for the info guys! I put 300 rounds through my new G17 EXO and it shows almost no wear. Much less then a normal Glock would show on the black finish.
