| I am considering buying a Eclipse Pro to serve as a smaller summer carry. It is hard to cover up a TLE II in Florida in the summer. Do any of you have any experience with the Pro Carry models or the Eclipse? |

I have a full sized Eclipse and am more than satisfied with it, it's the first stainless gun that won me over. As far as carry, you'll knock off the inch with the Pro, but your frame is the same size. So if you carry IWB it will be the same as covering up your TLE. The Compact Carry will still leave you with a 4"bbl but has a shorter frame. I haven't compared the real difference between the two, but it's a nice option of choice that Kimber offers. |

Raulin, that poses 2 questions. 1) With the frame being the same size that would meen that they take the same size mags, right? 2)The original, how reliable is the bushingless system used in the pro series. As far as carry, I carry strongside, rather than IWB. I hate IWB. |
1) Yes, the Pro and full sized models use the same sized mags. 2) All of my 1911s are full sized, so I can't personally vouch for a gun I haven't spent some good time with. Plently of folks in this forum own and carry various models of Pro sized Kimbers. I'm sure now that you've narrowed your concerns to the bushingless factor you should get some helpfull and specific feedback. In any case, it's hard to go wrong with a Kimber. |
| I have a Pro Carry and their bushingless barrel works just fine. Mine is really reliable and accurate. If you are going to carry you might want to get the Pro CDP or Tactical Pro that have the aluminum frame to reduce some weight. I have a full size Eclipse that I love BTW. |
| I have a Series I lightweight Pro. Very reliable with anything I have tried in it, including HydraShoks and SXT's...Wilson/Rogers mags, of course. The butt of the pistol will be just as easy...or difficult...to hide as the full size model, so you may really want to look at a smaller model with shorter butt if you are having a problem with that. |
| I have changed my mind about the Eclipse finish. I have decided to get a blued version. The reason I want the pro is the shorter barrel length. I hate IWB holsters and not all my shirts are longe enough to cover the 5 in barrel. Now my only concern is the level of difficulty to feild strip and clean the bushingless system. |
Ah... screw the 1911's ... get an XD.  Just kidding... truth be told I miss my 1911 very much... I was so proud of it... what the hell got into my head and made me want to get rid of it I dont know... too much sex I guess. I was looking at a local store today and saw a very basic (but seemed to be solidly built) 1911 make by Rock Island, or some such. I know it wont be mistaken for a Kimber but what do you know about these? |
