| Hey could anybody tell me what the difference is exactly? I was looking for a new slide and saw a 92F slide that apparently "doesnt have a hole for the hammer pin" whatever the hell that is. Also its my understanding that you can convert a 96 into a 92FS by changing out the complete slide with a 92FS slide and barrel assembly and using 92 mags. can anybody comment on this as well? |

I just ordered a 92 Brigadier Inox (will be in Tuesday). The dealer showed me the Beretta inventory web page for his supplier, and there were no 92FS's listed... just 92F, 96F, etc. How long has the 92FS model been around? I get the impression it's been several years... if that's the case, either this supplier has very old stock, or the descriptions/model numbers in his database have not been updated. Also, I noticed the letters "RG" appeared in the description line of many of the pistols... "92F BRIGADIER INOX RG" for example (it may not have read exactly like that). Any idea what RG means? Looking forward to my new pistol... a 92 has been on my wish list for years, and I'm finally doing it. --Mike |

the 92F was replaced by the 92FS some time ago. see above link for details. IIRC, there is nothing "unsafe" about the 92F, problems encountered were due to improper ammo usage ("hot" smg rounds were used) (seems like the 92 and the m16 both got bad reps from improper ammo usage.. oh well) fwiw, I have a 92F that functions great. I too was concerned about the F/FS thing at first until I got myself educated. |
| I have had a 92FS since 1992, brand new purchase. I have never replaced a thing on it, still use the 2 original 15-round mags, and probably have about 5k rounds through her by now. It's still my favorite handgun, though I don't carry it concealed much due to its size. |
