Well I have been thinking about getting a Glock for a while. The one thing keeping me from doing it was the fact that you couldn't thumb the slide catch and have one handed operation. Well, a friend should me his G20 with an extended slide catch at a gunshow today. This G20 you could thumb and have the slide gop forward with only one hand. I decided right then and there I was going to find me a Glock. I did and am the very happy owner of a brand new G22. Where can I get the extended slide catch? Thanks!

well at a gun show there should be someone there selling ans installing that. You can get them from auctionarms.com or gunbroker.com for about $10 to $20 depending on what day of the week it is. You also might want to look into the ext. mag release. I love it on my glocks as long as it's not my carry gun.

I have the Aerotek extended slide catch on my G19 and I love it.  I bought mine from Brownells.  I believe it was 29.95.  More expensive then most but I liked it more then any others I had looked at.  It comes in black or siver and takes about 5 min to install.

Well I just ordered one from Glockmeister and now can't wait for the adventure of installing it myself! Got the glock Disassembly tool as well. Do you guys think it is worth the $30 for the extended magazine catch?

You have to be carefull of your thumb position with the extended slide stop. If you 'ride' the stop, the mag will drop out.

Yes it is worth it.  It is also very easy to install.  the only problem you may run into is not getting the spring in the right place.  This will cause the slide to lock back all the time.  Very eas to fix. Just do it again. One tip don't take the pin all the way out.  Take it out just enough to remove the slide lock.

WTF does the slide stop have to do with the mag release?  NOTHING!  If you don't depress the mag release button the mag will stay in no matter what else you do.  Man get your head out of your ass.

Peet, your'e the one who doesn't even know how to install the extended slide correctly. Of course the small pin must go in the locking block first to keep the spring in the right position.

OK smart ass.  With your vast knowlege please inform me how the slide catch has anything to do with the mag release.  Please inform me and everyone else how these two things are related.  I would be most interseted in seeing some corroberating testimony.  Matter of fact I am planing on going to the range tommorow I will intentionaly ride the slide lock to test your theory

Be sure to test it VERY thoroughly after you install the extended slide stop.  Our dep't switched to Glocks about two years ago.  When we switched, we ordered and installed the extended slide stops in all 285 guns.  I think about 3 of them worked properly.  The specs were too wide and it would not lock by hand.  It would still lock back with an empty mag but that was the only way to do it.  We were able to "pinch" them very slightly with pliers to take out the extra width and make most of them work properly.  If you pinched them too much, then they wouldn't work at all.
Finally, we took almost all of them out and replaced them with the originals.  They are not as easy to use one-handed but they work properly all the time.
