Ive got a CZ 75 compact that I would like to put a slightly wider safety on.  I see lots of stuff at CZ Custom, but I dont want or need an ambi safety.

I have a hard time switching the safety on and off when Ive got a full two handed grip on the pistol.   Its a carry gun, so I dont want a huge paddle safety, just something a little wider.

Are there any safeties that will drop in to my pistol with minimal fitting, AND be LHS only?

It sounds like you want something a little more like the originals (pre-B), which had a much more pronounced "ridge" down the middle, as opposed to the gradual "stepping" of the modern varieties. IMO, yet another thing that was best on the originals.

If you can scrounge one up, it may work - but I'm not sure, as I haven't had the guts of both guns side-by-side. I also don't recall offhand if you can fit the primary (LHS) of an ambi safety into a single-sided safety pistol, which would be your only other widely-available option, using a SA-/Shadow-style LHS only.

I have also seen some people weld up and reshape the modern stock safeties to attain one more like the originals.

Thats what Im afraid of.   Im a mechanic by trade, and Ive busted up my fingers so often that I dont have the movement in my right thumb to really bend it easily.

If I use enough effort, I can take the gun off of safe without moving my grip, but 9 times out of ten I just use my left thumb to drop the safety as I raise the pistol.

Maybe welding it up isnt such a bad idea.
