I vaguely remember seeing here or elsewhere that extended releases on a CCW gun are bad juju. Someone tell me why? |
| Anything "extended" on a CCW pistol could potentially make concealment more difficult and possibly cause cloths to snag on the controls. Honestly it probably won't make much difference. For CCW most people want a smooth snag free pistol so it goes against what most people want. |

If that's the case then disregard and instead tell me the preferred slide release  |

I don't see any downside in regards to a carry gun. Personally, I take them off all my Glocks because I have long thumbs, and my thumbs-forward grip sometimes inadvertently engages the slide stop when I'm doing rapid fire drills. |

The Glock "extended" slide releases pretty much are only slightly enlarged releases and as such do not present a CCW problem. I have Vickers Tacticals in mine.
I have heard some places tout their extended mag releases as just slightly extended so as not to present a CCW problem. With "small" Glocks one can use the factory "big" (10mm or 45 ACP) Glock mag release; the only difference is the width of the frame and therefore the length of the mag release. |

This is the main potential liability. Don't want to be two rounds in and have the slide lock back when you need another. Not a common issue, but some shooters report it. I tend to push releases down preventing slide lock, not as big a deal, but I wouldn't want extended one making it worse. I haven't seen too many extended Glock releases that really look like a snag hazard or add much bulk, though I'm sure they're out there. Factory extended is very clean an minimal looking. |

Does anyone sell that factory coppery grease? That stuff is referred to as C5-A (Locktite commercial name) or anti-sieze in the automotive and aerospace industries. There is the Copper-based version and a Nickel-based (high temp) version. Not very expensive at Midway but possibly cheaper at the auto parts store (I used to use it on my spark plugs and any high-torque/temp bolts in my vehicles...and my guns!). Glock says not to worry about removing it nor worry about replacing it; I replace it and I also use it on the contact points (frame rails, bottom of the AR bolt, hammer, etc. of all my firearms). |
| Shot with the glock oem extended slide lock today. I really like it. I used to always use the overhand powerstroke method but I recently started to use my left thumb after reloading as its faster and easier with my Beretta since the slide lock is perfect. The extended glock is right where my thumb is after reloading. |
