I have a FEG PMK-380 semiauto pistol that was bought on the cheap.  The issue that I have is that the extractor looks like it had been romoved at one point and was reinstalled incorrectly.  When chambering a cartridge the extractor does not seem set on the rim.  I removed the slide and place a cartridge directly on the face of the bolt and the extractor seems to sit too far out and above the rim.

The question I have is simple.  Does anyone know how to remove the extractor and reinstall correctly?  I did a quick web search and everything I found only stated field stripping (remove slide, remove spring, clean, reinstall).

Thank you in advance.

Ok, I've finally figured out what I need to do to get the extractor out (push retaining pin back and lift out extractor).  My newest issue... recomendations on tools to do this.  I've tried an awl but I can get the pin/spring to push back but then it is in the way to remove the extractor.  Any thoughts??

I've used small eye glass screw driver or anything  at hand like tweezers or very small punch.

The awl that I'm using is about 1/32 inch at the tip but once I get it in and have the pin/spring far enough back it's blocking the extractor.  How far into the slide does it need to go?

Based on what I'm seeing of what the extractor looks like there is only one way for it to go in.  What I'm finding for the issue, as stated above, is that the extractor is sitting too far up and out to engage the rim.  It doesn't look like the extractor is worn or broken on the claw.  It almost looks like a different (caliber) but similar extractor was installed on this pistol.

Have you shot the pistol to confirm the extractor is not working?

Anyway, the PMK is the same thing as the FEG Pa-63, and will share parts with the 9x18mm.

To get the extractor out, you have to take the safety, and firing pin out of the slide, then the extractor plunger and spring will slide out the back of the slide and the extractor will be free to drop out when the slide is turned on its side.

I almost picked up one of these the other day for 150 but the guy backed out on me. Hope you enjoy it once you get it up and running.

Yes, verified that it's not extracting.  Even trying to push the extractor over to engage the cartridge won't work.

Picked up on the cheap for $60.  Even with the issue $60 for a modern pistol is great.

Ok,  finally got the extractor out.  No damage, no worn parts, not broken.  Any thoughts at all?

Normally as a pistols slide is pushed to the rear the fired case is ejected.  As the slide moves forward the top cartridge is pushed forward and is supposed to slide up under the extractor against the breach face.  If the brach face is rough it might help to polish.  I would try a different mag.  If the mag releases the next cartridge to early the case  can end up in front of the extractor.   I've seen several pistol designs where the extractor will not reliablely snap over the cartridge rim.  It is always better to feed a round into the camber of Centerfire pistol from the magazine.  Dropping a round into the chamber and releasing the slide is a great way to break an extractor.

Guess how I know.

I've tried loaded both direct round in chamber and magazine fed.  It does the same thing both ways.  The cartridge will enter the chamber but the extractor doesn't come anywhere near the rim.  Bolt/breech face is clean and no issues there.  Feeding from the magazine works as it should.

Best way to describe this is either an incorrect extractor was put in this or an out of spec extractor was installed.

Unfortunately I'm not at home with all of my stuff or I'd be able to post pictures to show what it's doing.

Yep sounds like you have it figured out.  I think I'd start looking for another extractor.

I checked gunparts.com. Numerich arms and they show the PMK 380 but you have to look under Kassnar the importer.  They show the extractor in stock about $20.

Thank you for that.  I figured they would (hopefully) have one but I wouldn't have thought to check under Kassnar.
