There is no SAAMI spec for .45 acp +P+.

Since I had a FNP-45 go kboom firing UMC ball ammo, I do not have a good opinion of the pistol in general.

I'd have to see photos on that. I have one, and it is build like a tank.

I have not had a problem with +p rounds in my FNP45 Tactical.
OP, just check the owners manuel. If it says it will handle all commercially loaded ammo, then that included +p.

Seems like some guys have nothing but trouble and others have a perfectly working gun. Am I missing something? Is there a known issue with these?

According to FN, +p rounds are fine in the FNP45.

I have fired +P rounds through my FNP-45T and no issues. Brass was fine.

Sorry, it was a rental from Targetmasters and they took it back.

The frame cracked in two right at the locking block, blew the extractor out, imbedded the ejector into the cheek of my friend, blew the magazine bottom out, cracked the locking block.

Shit that's not just a failure that's serious. Did you ever hear what caused the failure?

No, we were never told what the resolution was.

This incidence, along with other issues, is a reason why I do not like UMC ammo.  To be honest, I like the feel of the M&P 45c feels, but it does not hold eleventy billion rounds in its magazine.

Although I wouldn't want any pistol to do that, even if it was badly mistreated, you have to remember it was rental. How many thousands of rounds did it have down the pipe, and what kind of ammo? How many times had it been dropped, assembled incorrectly, inappropriately lubed, or otherwise mistreated? For all we know, they loaned it to someone who did evil experiments on it.

I'm just saying, I've never, ever heard of another FNP45 doing that in all the time cruising the internet. I think if there were more, we'd be hearing about them. (For that matter, I don't hear too many stories about any pistols doing that, except maybe Glocks ;)  )

Easy on the Glocks now. =) I have a G17 that I bought from a DoD contractor in the VA Beach area. It's had two tours to Iraq. I can't imagine how many thousands of round it's fired. It runs like a clock though and is still very accurate. My buddie's gen4 feels like it's from the stone age.

Back to the FN. I haven't heard of that kind of failure either aside from the early Beretta 92s. I'm sure a combination of the rental factor plus a 1 in 1 billion hot loaded round was the culprit

All of that aside. I love the M&P a lot but I really want a combat pistol. I know I know the M&P is a gun and guns are for fighting. But there is something about the end result being from a need to offensively kill bad guys that draws me to the FNP.
