I am thinking of getting a FNX45 Tactical.  I know they had teething problems right off the bat and I am fine with that as long as they fixed them.  Are the current model guns  reliable and have they had the issues solved?

I already have a P227 and this would be a complement to that.  I really like the idea of 15 rounds of .45.

I was looking strongly at the FNXT's a
couple of years ago as a host gun.
I was comparing them to the USPT's.

At that time I went with the HK,
because of 2 primary reasons.
1) Magazine stoppage at insertion.
2) Poor/weak ejection pattern.

Item 1 is an easy 5 minute fix.
Use a Dremel drum sander to
create a 1/16" chamfer on the
lower edge of the mag release bar.

Item 2, apparently FN has corrected
in the new handguns because the
ejection pattern is at an appropriate
3-4' to the right. The were all landing
on the shooter's hands when I initially
looked at them, but both of mine are
gtg.

I have added RMR's to both of my
FNXT's. They really are outfitted
way beyond the USPs with everything
I wanted & had to add to the HK's.

Good luck.

John

Mine has run everything i fed it. I have a fastfire 3 on it, osprey can. And aside from it looks badass, I actually find shooting kinda blah. I've recently thought of getting rid of it. I was looking at 227 tactical.

Just find I really am not jazzed by it or shooting with a dot on my pistol.

Ive had my FNX.45 for 3 years now and no issues. I do not have the "T" version , so I cannot comment on long term shooting suppressed. With that I have shot complete garbage ammo through it and have never had an issue yet and the ejection pattern has always been the same. Hell , my glock 19 will toss an empty in my face once awhile or off the top of my head!

I've had mine about 8 months and am happy with it.  It did have some hiccups for the first 3-4 magazines.  The hive thinks it's about leaving the magazines fully loaded a few days...I did that but I don't really believe that was the issue or the fix.  A thorough cleaning and lubrication is probably closer to the truth for the fix.  Anyway, after the first couple of days it's been 100% reliable with probably 1000 rds since then.  I have a Vortex Venom on mine and even had a custom holster made for Ludicrous Carry.  The case is even worth mentioning as above average.  It's not perfect: the magazine baseplates are a goofy design and the grip texture isn't great.  Both are tolerable to me for a hi-cap 45 tacti-cal/-cool suppressor host.

I added Talon Grips to my Gen 4
Glocks to tame the polymids down
for IWB carry. They were so easy
to put on, priced right, and I think
the looked so good, I added the
to both of FNXT's. I don't dislike
the FN's texturing that much, but
I do like having the Talon's on there.

I bought the rubber Talons.
