| So do you guys think that the government is going to try and ban the five-seven pistol now just for the simple fact that the Army Major used it to commit a mass murder? Might be a wise thing to invest in... Im sure none the less its gonna become a big topic. |

They can add them to the NFA list, with out going through congress. Will be a class 3 type gun, like a machine gun. They did that with several shotguns in the past. They can't just move a Title I gun into Title II willy-nilly. It has to fit a definition within Title II and currently the Five-Seven doesn't fit any existing definition. They could deny further Form 6 import permits, but that's about it. The story of the day is a possible Muslim extremist as a career officer in the US Army. This isn't a school shhoting or disgruntled postal worker, the type of gun used isn't of interest. |
| here is how they plan to get around the Constitution. Obama revives talk of U.N. gun control |

Considering that the democrats lost the house and senate for 10 years after trying to force gun control, I'm not worried about any overt moves such as a ban on the five seven. I'm more worried about sneak plays and such. The Democrats KNOW gun control will cost them their power EVERY TIME they try something brash v. guns and banning the five seven counts as brash.
Now would be a good time to join the NRA if you haven't; and send them some more money if you have donations to spare, to prevent these sneak plays and end runs by shedding light on them and blocking them. The Five Seven will sell at inflated prices for awhile and then come back to earth here in a few months. Hell, most people forgot about losing two skyscrapers and the concurrent murder of 3000 citizens within six months time; imagine how quickly they'll forget about the Five Seven cartridge. Anyway. From what I've heard, the civilian ammo for the Five Seven at current time is completely neutered of it's full potential, not sure if this is true or not. I'm not even talking about LEO vs. Civvy, I'm talking within the civvy realm they're still neutered. I suppose reloading could counter that. Anyway. Stay vigiliant but I'd not worry too much about it being banned, considering democrats lose power every time they try something overt regarding gun control. Buy more guns! Obama will lose in 2012. |

I noticed over on impactguns.com that the USG is now the only civilian legal model, and the IOM is now LE/MiL only. They also changed what model of bullets are available to civilian buyers. Looks like they're only selling significantly slower rounds to civvys. Not sure what's different between the USH and IOM models though.
Thinkin this is how they'll start removing guns from the hands of civilians the same way they started with the drug control. They'll just keep reclassifying various bullets and firearms into LE/MiL only, or restrict imports..etc because they cannot simply flat out ban them. |

IOM models have not been exported for sale to the civvie market for a number of years now. You can still find some IOM models on the boards and they are perfectly legal to own (impact doesn't know shit). I know a few people who have found IOM models on GunBroker but they paid a premium. The main difference between the IOM and USG is that the IOM is a DAO model with "no" manual safety and the USG is a single action model "with" manual safety. There are some cosmetic differences as well.
The same ammo is still available today as it was on day one (about 7 years ago) to civvies. Some types may be harder to find but I still can find and do buy SS192, SS195, SS196, & SS197. Civvies were "never" able to purchase SS190 and SS193. Elite Ammunition makes a variety of ammo that matches and in some cases exceeds the ammo that LE/Mil can get. MadDog

MadDog ![]() ammunitiontogo.com is selling SS192's in the 2000rd cans at reasonable prices. - Edit, nevermind, they raised their price $200 in the last couple of days. This is interesting tho. When did they pack 2100 rounds in the SS192 cans? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=147350434 I thought they only came in 2000rd cans? |

Quoted: A couple of weeks ago I checked a local shop where I remember seeing some SS192. There were about 10 boxes on the shelf and I was surprised to find it priced at a reasonable $21.95. When I expressed interest they pulled more from under the counter and said the would do better on the price if I bought it all. Got all of it (1500 rds) for $20 plus tax per box. ammunitiontogo.com is selling SS192's in the 2000rd cans at reasonable prices. - Edit, nevermind, they raised their price $200 in the last couple of days. |

| I've also heard that .22 WMR is...loud would be a vaast understatement. It also supposedly throws off a fireball when fired from rifles, so from a 4" barrel I'm afraid of setting the drapes on fire during an otherwise good shoot. Anyone have one of the old grendels to comment? |

The FN57 nemesis: MOAR bullets Costs less Same ballistics You mean about 2/3 the velocity and about half the energy. http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr51/kristofer_g/gun%20stuff/57x28mm_versus_22magnum.jpg You can understand the confusion, they are nearly identical. |

Well @ $44.95 per 50 round box they won't be seeing orders from me at these rates. well it's sure not plinking ammo, but when your only other options are reloading or using the VMAX load with 255 ftlb, i would go with the 650+ ftlb personal defense load, or their TSX variant for anything besides paper and varmints... |

I'm now the proud owner of an FN 5.7x28. So now where is a good source of ammo at a decent price/ Elite Ammo has the only full-power loads available to the public with better projectiles than the bluetip AMAX. It's a V-Max projectile. Yea, don't know what i was thinking... fixed |
| Suffice it to say that I'm a new owner of the 5.7 pistol. It's quite the deviation away from my normal revolver focus. So the ammo question. should I just buy a few hundred rounds at a time for shooting or should I go with case purchases of the ammo. Are their problems foreseen in ammo availability here in the future. |

MADDOG, I see you have the burris site but I can't find the FN listed on their website. Which on did you buy ? Hank Two different people make a rear sight mount for a MRD. Elite Ammo and TrueHunterSupply has a rear mount for sale. I believe Maddog had his custom made before either were available. |
