O.K. I don't understand the search function on this board. I never see any results no matter what I'm searching for. I guess FN pistols have never been discussed here then (wink wink). I've never handled one at all, but they look pretty killer and they're FN so that's good right? What do you guys think of them? Any experiences positive or negative are much appreciated. EDIT: Ha, now I see the brand sections but the FN one is pretty sparse so I will leave this thread in tact. |
I've read a police memo about the FN 5.7 ... they said to be on the lookout for those that carry or have the FN 5.7 pistol. I asked my friend, who's a cop and he said that round can go through bulletvests. He said that the FN pistol, in the state of FL poses a problem. He said because FL law says that a handgun cannot have armor piercing rounds in it, yet the 5.7 round is automatically considered armor piercing. So I said ok... so what does that mean? He says he's not really sure because on one hand, it's a legal pistol, but technically the rounds it carries aren't, but the 5.7 isn't outlawed either. I got confused after that. That's the only negative thing I've heard about it. Can somebody please clarify that info for me please? |
The 5.7mm rounds us mere mortals can buy for the Five-seveN are NOT AP. Unless you want to nick them from the USSS or someone, your cop buddies are pretty safe from Five-seveNs. |

Yes, the AP round is not available to civilians. So, there are no problems with the 2 civilian legal 5.7 rounds. If anyone is interested in the FNP or the Five Seven or any other FN Weapon, come check out the Fn Forum! fnforum.net |

Got to love how the police gods can have AP rounds but their loyal subjects cannot. I have an FNP-9 that should arrive in a week or so, then I have the waiting period. I can let you know how it is. I only have my GLOCK 19 and 26 to compare it too. I am hoping I won't be disappointed. I wanted to break into the DA/SA market and the FNP series looks great overall. Plus, if you buy before March 31, you can send for the free shooters back which comes with a holster and a dual mag holster plus plastic practice barrel. I figured that was worth the price in itself. Some over at Shipwreck's forum are claiming that the trigger feels way better than the Sigs that they own. I have a lot of respect for the Sig lineup, so if these guys say it feels better, than it must be pretty good. |
