Just bought a new match champion and loaded 6 rounds in expecting a great time , first two shots ….then the hammer locked up ,trigger locked up. Opened cylinder spun it and tried to fire again . One shot and cylinder locked up again hammer goes half way and stops .trigger same . Open cylinder  spin close . One shot ..lock up. So I tried it with only one cartriage ..same, tries with 3 staggered , same lockup.. pur in all 6 again and fired once then locked up.. emptied out and dry fired about 25 times ..ok.. opened , closed cylinder dry fired 8 times, locked up?? packed up and took back to sportsmans warehouse and had them send in to have it fixed . Anyone else had this problem with a ruger 357 ? I thought the match champion was supposed to better than the regular gp 100 . My colts and smiths have been flawless . Very disappointed in ruger

Were the primers backing out? Bullets getting pulled forward?

Are you an experienced revolver guy?

Had it returned to ruger for warranty work, sales guy at sportsmans says they have sent half a dozen back  in the last year, because of the same issue, cylinder out of spec.

It's sad it is happening to a bunch of manufacturers-S&W, Colt, etc., maybe not on the grand scheme of things but these manufacturers are the ones others/lesser manufacturers are judged by.

This is true.  I looked at a new Colt Cobra at a LGS last year.  Half the rifling was missing in the barrel.  If you looked down the barrel one side of the bore was smooth and the opposite side had rifling.  Never saw anything like that before.  A very nice looking gun otherwise.

I bought a new stainless 7-shot GP100 a couple of years ago.  I had to send it back because after shooting a cylinder or two, the cylinder would start binding.  I got it back pretty quick and it was fine after that.

I have a Blue GP100 that has been perfect out of the box.

We also have two Security Six revolvers in the family.  Mine is a blue 200th year.  The other is a stainless that the wife bought about 1980ish.  Both run perfect.

I watched a Lucky Gunner video last night where he had the same problem with that model.

My Revolver Stopped Revolving

I can’t recall not having a problem with a Ruger revolver.

You must be the unluckiest Ruger owner in the world. Over a span of 40 years I've had more than 35 Ruger revolvers pass through my hands. NEVER had an issue with any of them. In the various places I gunsmithed at, I never had to fix or send one back to the factory. Based on the posts so far I'm betting this is a relatively new problem. Not a huge surprise as QC across a lot of industries and companies has suffered in recent years. Ymmv.

Exactly the problem ! Sent it in to ruger …we will see what happens…what bothers me is his malfunctioned after a thousand rounds , mine after 2 ..so could this be a continuing problem with this revolver as you use it?

I had one of the early 7-shot models that had issues with the case rims binding up.  Ruger let me pick out any other model to replace it.  I went with the 6 shot match champion.  It hasn't missed a beat.

I’ll elaborate.

I did have an SP101 I bought in ‘07 that was gtg.

I didn’t have another Ruger until ‘19 when I got on a single action kick and bought, sold, and traded probably a dozen of them.

They ALL had issues. MOST were not even reliable.
