I'm looking for fast 9mm pistol (fast out of the box). I was wondering what you recommend? I’d prefer something non poly, with a short reset for fast follow up shots.  And yes I've tried a Glock with a 3.5 connector, it wasn't for me. Thanks in advance. |
| Fastest...by far... I have seen over the years have all been modded 1911's in the caliber. They can be customized to have triggers down to 1 1/2-2lb. and nothing can compare with their reset. They also (in all steel versions) have the weight to hold down recoil in fast games like steel. Downside, of course, is expense and mag capacity. The Glocks can also hold their own when modded, but obviously you are then back to the polymer frame. |

Alpha, My main gripe against the BHP MKIII is the long, or rather weak reset on the trigger. I ordered the wolff extra power trigger return spring after I read a revier on Midway that the Cylinder and slide version was too wide and would bind in the frame, as it had and "extra" coil. Wolff's website says that their spring is the same power as pre MKIII trigger return springs. Hopefully the new Wolff spring with solve the weak reset. I hope I made the right choice not buying the cylinder and slide verison. |

Its not so much that its a long reset, maybey its just too weak What say you about these? | I'd put a SIG P226/P229 Elite up against any out-of-the-box pistol made. The short reset trigger on the Elite model, combined with SIG's excellent DA/SA trigger and the controversial beavertail, all make for an incredibly fast and controllable shooting experience. My P229 Elite is in .40 S&W, and it is amazingly controllable, especially in rapid fire. I imagine a 9mm version would be even better with its lighter recoil. |

I've spent a lot of time with a SIG in my hand, and my new P226 Elite is faster than the previous renditions, but there is nothing faster than a modded Glock. I crossed over to the Dark Side because the "tactical tupperware" was faster to the first shot, and had faster split times. I went back to the SIG because it fits my hand better, I shoot it better, and you can't miss fast enough to win.

The Armalite is just a copy of a CZ-75B, which has also been copied by Tangfolio (the Witness) and IMI (the Jericho). The Armalite-branded clone does have a forged frame and slide - something the CZ does not - but no one has ever given any quantifiable evidence that this would actually lead to a longer lasting gun and I've certianly never heard of a broken, cracked, or worn out CZ-75 frame or slide.
I've shot one of these on a single occasion and would have to agree. The one I shot had a great trigger. |

+1 for the SP01, I love mine Its a very heavy gun, and it jumps around only a little more than a short barreled 22 pistol. And it comes with two 19 (maybe 18, im always confused) round mags, +20 round mags are available, and its pretty cheap, only about 500 bucks. With the manual safety model, you can carry cocked and locked, and its the proven platform of the CZ 75. But beware of the unsupported chamber. Traditional 1911 barrels have NO chamber support at all and can only take weak 9mm ammo safely. In contrast, 9mm CZs, Glocks, and Ramped Barrel 1911s can take 9mm loaded extremely hot - up to +p+ and approaching .357 Sig levels (i.e. 9mm Major). My stock Glock 17 has fired the infamous Hirtenberger L7A1 124 grn load at about 1350 FPS w/o problem - but I confess it was less than one box full. But, a former member (gotM4) bought a 1200 round case of L7A1 and when I asked him how much of it he fired through his Glock , he preplied "all of it." I also own an early SJC G34. It has only digested 9mm Major - nothing else, but the barrel is KKM. |
