I have the Tactical - decocker version of the SPO1. I bought it new Dec.7, 2007.
Just above the extractor there is a boss with 06 stamped into it. Is that the year of manufacture?
I wonder if anyone has seen anything other than 06 on an SPO1?
Just to the left of the 06 looks like JUL was stamped but then crossed out.
What is that?

When I press the mag release the empty mag falls free. I'm assuming my pistol did not come with a mag break.
Are new SPO1s suppose to come new with or without mag break?

My SPO1 came with two 18 rounds magazines. When fully loaded or partialy loaded they rattle! The rounds inside rattle which doesn't lend itself to stealth.
Do all of these mags rattle?
I want to get some spare mags for range use.
Which aftermarket spare mags are you guys buying and where are they the cheapest?

Thanks Much for Your Time

I have the SP-01 Shadow and it has an 08 date on it but it is at the front toward the barrel and it came with 3 19 round mags. If I load them to capacity they do have that little rattle to them. If I load them one round short they do not rattle at all.

Mec-gar mags are the factory oem mags for cz and they can be found at top gun supply, cdnn, midway usa etc...

all the SP01s, 75B, 85, etc have a mag brake..its the piece of metal in the back of the magwell..
most of the current ones seem to be adjusted to let the mag drop free..it is easily adjusted to drop free or retain the mag..depending on what you want.

I used to have an 05 SP01..they have been around for a few years..

...and you need for your full size handgun to be stealthy because???  dont say home defense, bc a pistol is a poor choice, better off with a shotgun.  i doubt u will be carrying the sp01 since its full size and there a several better options in 9mm for carry.  if your only going to the range or competition, rattling magazines will not impeade your shooting session, i assure you.

Maybe he doesn't have a shotgun. Maybe he doesn't buy that theory. Maybe he does want to carry it and likes the SP-01 enough that there is no better option. Does it matter?

Do you want mags to free fall or stay in place? Like eerw already said, the mag brake is there. If you want it to exert force on the mags, that modification can be made easy enough. I adjusted the mag brake on every one of my CZs so they would drop free, but the opposite can be done just as easily.

if you can afford a sp01 you can afford a HD shotty.

that shotguns are better than pistols for HOME defense?  right....

i said doubt bc its much more difficult to conceal a full size handgun than a compact or subcompact, and thus with CCW in mind, there are most definetely better options.

that the mags rattle, (the original dilema)?  Nope, which is what i said before.  my original comment was on the OPs point of stealth, which is not a concern one should have if only going to the range or competitions.  other than that (ccw and hd) is where the further comments came from.

I'm not sure if the first line in your last paragraph was a sarcastic reply or not, so I'll just spell out that I meant "does it matter" that he asked if there's a way to silence the rattle in his mags.

My point was your cutting him down over wanting to silence his magazines was silly. If someone has a good way of silencing that rattle without impeding reliability at all, I'd be interested in that too, and I'm sure many others would as well. Doesn't matter if you think it's not necessary, anymore than it mattered when a Zumbo says we don't need ARs.

A lot of stuff people on this board do and buy for their weapons isn't necessary for a weekend range trip. But fortunately, this is ARFCOM, things don't always have to be necessary.

All of my mags rattle and I have never had a problem related to the mag. The best magazines are the Mec-gar which is what they use from the factory. They come in 17rd cap. or 19rd. cap.. Both with a new follower and an antifrition coating. Have fun shooting your SP01! It is probably one of my best pistols.

A lot of people carry a full size handgun. I do. I'm only 5'8", 175lbs too. In fact a friend of mine carries a Glock 34 daily. I don't often carry my SP01, but I often carry a full sized M&P, or a 1911. I wouldn't want my mags to rattle regardless. A lot of people use a handgun for HD. I have never seen a shotgun hold more than 10+1 rounds, an SP01 holds 19+1. Shotguns are sloppy and if you have to take a careful, aimed shot, a shotgun is a poor choice. If an intruder grabs your wife are you going to launch a handful of buckshot at him while he uses her as a shield? I guess the answer depends on if you like your wife or not!

Your comments aren't helping the OP, and they are a little condescending. If you can help with the rattling, speak up. If not, don't. That is all.
