So today i had my fingerprints taken for an out of state CCW application. I was doing it in a Massachusetts police dept... The female officer asked what I was getting fingerprinted for, and I replyed for my out of state FL carry permit. She said, oh, so you don't live there? I said no. She said, then why do you want to get one. I then said and quote... "because I can." she gave me the weirdest look, "BECAUSE YOU CAN!?" as if i was absolutely crazy for wanting to have a CCW in another state other than the one I reside in. I don't know what to take of this. MA laws and the mindset of SOME (not all) of the officers just boggles my mind. |

I think her reaction makes sense... (someone without a clue might wonder why bother wasting time and money on an out of state license that is worthless in the resident's state). I would have spent the 45 seconds outlining the idiocy of MA policy and add that you could at least enjoy your 2nd amendment rights without state interferance when you travel elsewhere. |

Screw the state of Mass. End of story. When I went to get mine at the local PD there was a guy who was a couple years older than me during HS who was now an officer. He agrees to fingerprint me and is very polite. I told him it was for a Utah non-resident CCW and he says "Oh, so you're from Utah?" "No, I'm from here" I reply. "Oh so you're MOVING to Utah." in a voice like he had it all figured out. "Yeah, thinking about it" I said. Looking back I should have informed him on nonresident CCWs so he isn't dragging me out of the car and possible scratching my belt and holster. I'm going to get a shitload of those MO CCW pamphlets and keep them in my car just in case. |
