Im not sure if the is the right section but I'll ask any way.
I have a RIA 1911 that I believe is a parkerized finished. My last 1911 platform was stainless ParaOrdinence P14-45. My RIA has seen about 1500 rounds of .45 and about 2500 in a .22 conversion slide. It also has seen daily carry IWB in a cross breed. The rails on the slide are bright shiny silver. The rails on the frame are probably 30% missing of the parkerizing. as well as some holster wear down the slide and wear under the take down pin. I know it is a cheap gun but after some Wilson Combat parts, polishing the feed ramp and a trigger job it shoots awesome. My question is. What Kind of finish or coating should I be looking for to provide a finish that looks close to factory or at least flat black and is durable. Thanks for the help |

I've always found the Norrell moly resin in color "Grayish-Black" to be a very close match to parkerizing. Protects better, too.
http://www.molyresin.com/molyresin_about.asp The frame of this Spartan was done with this color.
