Well a couple of my friends were talking up their Kimber 1911s and convinced me to get one. I looked around and came across this Springfield  from a personal seller for $412.00, plus $40.00 for the transfer fee. I drove him over to the gun store and bought it they said I could get it hopefully on Saturday cause they have to transfer it into their inventory and then to me.  My only complaint is that there is only one magazine with the gun  what manufacture is pretty reliable. he store was out of them and they only have Kimber .

If it's new, that is a pretty good deal. New they come with one magazine anyways.

+1 get some wilson and tripp research mags.

you may eventually want to polish the feedramp, but have someone experienced do it!
if you want to swap the sights, my faves are 10-8
grips? look into a pachymar wrap around grip.  if you don't like the GI grip safety, maybe take a look at this: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=639454
Unless I'm mistaken, it's on this gun:

Larry vickers built that gun as a replica of what he was first issued in Delta

Talked with a few guys and I am sending the slide to Novak tomorrow for some night sights, Thats gonna hurt the wallet but its the only thing I would want to change. still shopping  for mags  and will more than likely grab the wilson ones from brownells. This is a great pistol minus the sights ..hell I even like the factory grips.

The OEM mil-spec sights on these things are horrible for any kind of sport shooting. A small, hard to pick up front sight is not a good thing to have in a combat handgun.

I too have a mil-spec SA & I changed the trigger to a long trigger as I have large hands. I also junked the cheap 2 piece OEM bbl & had a Wilson bbl installed. The thing now shoots as good as a Gold Cup, it just looks like a mil-spec.

Enjoy your gun!

nice purchase.

the springer factory mags are on sale on midway right now, like $12.

these are what i use in my springer operator, always work too.

don't waste your money spending $40 per mag on wilson, springer factory mags work fine.(use that money for ammo!)

I ordered 10 with the coupon inside the box I couldnt pass up on the price. I looked at some others but I cant justify it when I needed other things like night sights.

Sweet buy, looks to have a NM serial prefix...if so than that's a good old assembled in America 1911, and a great deal for the price.

For clarification...does the prefix start with NM?
