Well..... I shot my new (to me) Glock today for the first time. Round number 9 left powder burns on my fingers and left the front part of the case stuck in the chamber. The case appears to have failed at the feed ramp area and the force ripped the rest of the case head off. I guess this will teach me not to use cheep practice ammo. http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM000103.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM000104.1.JPG For a rare occurance ...... it only took me 9 rounds to have it happen to me. JW_in_Ohio - I had a case failure at the 6 o'clock position in my USP a couple of years ago. I too was shooting someone elses reloads It blew the magazine out of the well and scared the piss out of me. I ended up sending mine back to H&K for inspection and they returned it with a clean bill of health. I recommend you return it to Glock and let them look it over/repair/test your G22. Keep us posted. |

Too bad about your pistol. Glad you are ok. I fire only new, clean, commercial, SAAMI spec, copper case ammo through my Glock 40's. I think this lessens the chances of a failure. I also never fire ammo someone else gives me unless I know it fits the above criteria. Walter and others are right about Federal brass, although I think the newer stuff has been beefed up a bit and should be fine. If you must reload, as one other poster said "Know your brass", and use an aftermarket barrel with more case support. |

Call GLOCK Inc and ask for Tech Services, explain the problem and the manufacturer of the ammo. They will do one of two things, have you send in your pistol and 1. fix it under warranty or 2. fix it at cost. You should have a Glock certified armorer look at that. |
