I'm thinking about buying a H&K.  Never owned or fired one before.  For the last 15 years or so I've carried a Sig P229. Which pistol in the H&K line up would be similar in function/controls to a Sig.

Most similar to a classic Sig would be the H&K USP series and relatives (i.e. HK45, P2000 DA/SA...though I've never seen one in the wild).

A USP with decocker and DA/SA is going to be very close to your Sig.  The biggest difference will be the mag release paddle on the USP.

Why not go for the gold with a P7M8?

I've owned many HK pistols.

This question is a no-brainier......the VP9.

It's the obvious and needed evolution from the USP series.

I'm not comparing it to a SIG.....just telling you which HK pistol is without question my favorite out of ALL of them.

USP is what you're looking for.

Love both my USP9 and USP TACTICAL 45.

USP , then VP9.

I have both.

While the VP9 gets nightstand duty, if I could only keep one handgun out of the 8 or so I own, it would be the USP 9 that I bought back in 1997.

HK P2000 would actually

I have carried both the 229 and USP compact 9, I have always preferred the HK for ease of use, lighter , light recoil and like the Sig accurate . Just my opinion .

I played with a P30 with a DA/SA trigger and decocker and a VP series. I liked the grip.  The VP seemed like HK's answer to Glock.  The gun store guy said the P30 was similar in in function to the USP but had the adjustable grip panels. I'd like to play with a USP/c.

The only HK I ever sold off was my USP45c.

Very "brickish" grip, front grip texture I found annoying while shooting.

Incredibly reliable, very accurate.....but just not for me. Blocky slide and grip, both remedied completely in this current gen of their pistols.

It's really hard to go wrong with an HK pistol....they pretty much all deliver the goods. It's a matter of fit per shooter. There's a big USP following for good reason, I just happen to believe that this latest gen of HK pistols answers some of the past deficiencies that may or may not have been evident at the time.

If I could own one 9mm pistol, by any maker, it'd be the VP9.

And no, I don't hate Glocks, I own a few and love them....but the VP9 is the 9mm answer I've been looking for. Walther also makes some great pistols well worth considering.

this. Cant stand the spiderman looking styling of the VP series. If usp had a real rail it would be perfect.

Wat?

Straight from Marvel:

Not even close to looking like the VP series at all:

What got me started on looking at the H&K was a friend, who picked up a USPc .45.  Really nice pistol.  Just for full disclosure, I'm also looking at the Sig P220 Carry SAS.

Who knows, maybe in true ARFCOM form, I'll get both.

I got an HK USP V1 9mm on a trade and I love it. The USP was originally designed for the 40sw so for a 9mm it'll eat all the +Ps and +P+s with no sweat.
