OK so I just jumped in and picked myself up a XD 40 this is my first pistol and can guess its gonna need a little more TLC than my AK (never bother to clean it). Any tips would be nice! I'll post pics when I pick it up Tuesday

Just shoot it and clean it. I have a 9mm and .45 and have no problems with them. I clean them just like I clean my AKs and any other firearm I have and they work great and mine have not had a problem when they were dirty towards the end of a range session.

Thanks just heard that I might want to put a coat of oil on the slide to help protect the finish.
