Picked up a CZ75B the other days (actually it’s a SAR 2000 75B clone)….and although I’ve shot a few CZ 75B’s before, and I don’t remember it ever being a problem…..on this gun, after a few dozen rounds through it…the end of the beaver tail really starts digging into my hand and making it uncomfortable to shoot. It’s a lot shorter, and not as swept up in the back as the 1911 beaver tails that I’m used to. I didn’t really see any aftermarket, larger beaver tails for the 75B’s. Anyone else have this issue with the beaver tail digging into their hand on the 75B? Anyone tried taking a small file to it and some polishing wheels and try to smooth things out? Just holding it in my hand it seems to fit pretty well, but after several rounds through the run…..it just starts to hurt a little. I love the gun…but I want something I can take to the range and run a few hundred rounds through it without it leaving me with a sore spot right in the spot between my thumb and index finger where the beaver tail rides. |

Some people do that. Reshape the back end of the beavertail with a file, some sandpaper, polish up, etc. But you'd have to keep oil on it (to keep it from rusting) while you work with it, get it where you want it and then send the frame off to be refinished - unless you know someone local that can do a good cerakote job. Years ago, some of the CZ Forum members were seriously into modifying their CZs. One guy was welding material to the beavertail, working it down, welding more metal to it, working it down, etc. till he got it right where he wanted it. Looked similar to the frames on the CZ75SA pistols (and one or two others that CZ put different frames on. You might find some shop that would redo the beavertail for you but maybe not. I'd guess you're looking for something like this but it would need some extra metal. I've got a tig welder...and I'm pretty darn good at it  .....I bet I could do something welding on it, and then reshape it. Not sure I want to risk screwing up a new gun though. Here is a picture of my SAR 2000. I will see if I can a better picture later when I get home....but you can see that the beavertail is pretty short and squared off....similar to what the P-01 has.
