| So I was in a gun shop today and they were talking up Frog Lube. Has anyone ever used the stuff? I see that they give some of the proceeds to the troops and to exmil foundations. I love companies that help out those who protect my freedom. Any one use this stuff? |
| There have been a thousand and one threads in the AR Maintenance forum. Head over there. One guy did a pretty nice review, and concluded that it's identical to some other lube that can be found way cheaper. My conclusion: I see no credible reason to switch from my current mélange of lubricants and cleaners. |

I did a write up for this product in Guns Magazine awhile back...
The first frog lube was a thicker liquid, with a chapstick like paste as well to be used in lieu of grease. The beauty of the stuff is it acts like a clp, but also will soak into the metal (heating will help this process) and protect against corrosion. We treated an ak74, and fired corrosive to see if there was any real benefits, and the product worked well. Cleaning after long range sessions is also a breeze in a treated gun... most components can be wiped clean with a paper towel... deposits just dont stick. We also gave some to a few SWAT guys we knew thru the magazine editor, and they loved the stuff on their MP5 bolts. They original stuff is no more. If I am not mistaken, the original inventor left the company, and has a new product out... and "Frog Lube" today is a slightly different formulation... darker green, and less thick. I have not tested the new formulation to say if it works as well or not. |
