So I went to the range today, shot about two mags and was shooting like shit. Every shot was hitting about 8-12inches left of my point of aim. third mag in get my site picture and couldn't find my front sight. Well it had slid off a little bit to the right side a little bit, and can now very easily be slid on and off the slide with little to no resistance. Still pretty new to 1911s and I'm not sure what to do next, is this a problem i can resolve pretty easily myself or do I need to take it to a smith?
Edit- I have not removed the front sight before, everything is as it was the day it came out of the box +1000 rounds or so.

Sweet shit, I think you have a large dovetail or a small sight base. Either way, out of tolerance for sure. Must be a Kimber Custom feature.

I'd contact Kimber first and see if you can get it taken care of at no cost to you. Beyond that, you need a front sight that fits. Quick fix is copious amounts of red loctite under and around the front sight and center it back on the slide.

red loctite and a couple of taps with a center punch will have that sight fitting much better.

+1

Go light on the center punch, it's easy to overdo it.

I was going to say that it looked like you lost a roll pin, then I saw that there wasn't one.

Red loctite can loosen up when it gets hot (something fairly common with firearms).  I'd call Kimber.

Thats is why you use the center punch to rase the metal on the slide so it is a tight fit. Red breaks down around 250°C  (max service temp 149°C) if your slide is seeing that temp, you have one hell of a supply of magazines and ammo.

And here I'm thinking that a roll pin was SOP for front sight installation.  Stupid me.

Seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
