I put one on hold and i'll be picking it up on saturday. But with all these horror stories am i better off buying a springfield? It's mostly been problems with the compact size from what i can tell. Any advise would be great, sorry for the noobness.

You're better off getting a springfield, just do a quick search on this forum to get a consensus on kimbers that hasn't been reached by accident.

That's all i really i need hear. Was reading some stuff on M1911 forum and nobody was having any major issues with their custom II, mostly the compacts. Well i know what im getting saturday afternoon. I'll try to post some pics when i get it.

Custom II owner here, bought used and no problems at all.
Try Wolffe spring, they make it more reliable if your gun doesn't like certain types of ammo.
