| I have a G17 with a SJC sight rail. I have already lowered the ejector port but empty shell casings are hitting the bottom of the sight rail and causing the gun to jam. I understand my next step is to tune the ejector. Anyone know how to do this? I have heard that one way is to heat it and beat it to make it longer but that is all of the information that I have. Thanks. |

Wow. I'd love to see a pic of this.
How did you lower the ejection port? Dremel or milling machine? Refinish? Just curious, it interests me. First response I'd say to relieve some material on the underside of this sight rail, where the cases are impacting. This may not be possible, I don't know without pics, as I'm not familiar with this rail. Tuning the ejector would involve having it be longer, shorter, or bent at a different angle. I would think giving it an upward bend might make the cases come out straighter to the side. Not sure how much clearance there is under the slide to accomodate this though. Or try cutting it and shortening it. Would definitely change the dynamic there. Obviously ejectors by themselves are cheap, so it's no big deal if you mess one up. Sounds like alot of trial and error will be involved, unless someone has done this sucessfully and has the "recipe". I'd love to see pics of your setup though. |

No problem. I just have to figure out how to post a pic. Doesn't seem very easy. What I do is: take the pic, plug into the computer and load it up. Load that to a photobucket account. Go to your photobucket account, copy the direct link. Then make a post, hit the button down there with the little symbol of the mountain, 3rd from the right. Box comes up, paste that direct link in the box. OK, submit, and it's done. |

Sorry, couldn't help it. On photobucket, when you put the mouse on the image, it shows several links under. Click on the one that says "direct link", and it copies. Then paste that in the box that comes up when you hit the icon with the little mountain. |

OK got it!! Thanks for the help.
It is a G17 with a tungsten guide rod, 13lb. spring, Fulcrum trigger, C-More optics, KKM barrel, SJC optics rail, SJC comp., SJC mag release, SJC slide racker. It was fun mounting the optics rail. You have to use a drill press to drill a hole into the receiver then use a dremel tool to cut out alot of the plastic on the inside. The last step is the ejector. |

Very interesting! You've done alot to it................we owe it to that pistol to make it reliable! Now..............why the 13lb. recoil spring? Stock spring for that is a 17lb.er. Light loads, or trying to reduce recoil? That might be an issue, recoil spring weight can affect ejection patterns. Have you tried it with a stock weight spring in it? |
| The really large compensator bleeds off a lot of gas causing the slide to not go back far enough to pick up the next round. Therefore you just adjust by changing to a lower recoil spring. I am still playing with it and haven't found the best combination. I have to get it to eject first. I will try a 15 lb and see if that affects the ejection pattern. I just heard that SJC may start selling a pre-tuned ejector which would solve my problem. I need to call them and get a time frame. |
| Last I looked there is not info on the site about an ejector that they can ship out. You currently have to send in your upper to get it tuned. A friend who also has a Glock racegun called and spoke to Steve who said they are VERY close to a pretuned ejector that they can ship out. |

I'm curious - I thought the ejector was molded into the frame.... how can it be replaced? |

It can be pried right out if need be. |
