I have about 700 or so rounds through the gun, with stock everything except the sights. When I pull the trigger the initial pull is fine but then there is a sort of bump before I hit the wall. The break is normal. Also strange is that I feel something bump behind the backstrap at the same time I feel the weirdness in the trigger. I don't experience anything like this with my G21 Gen 3. My trigger discipline is much better of late so its possible that the gun came like that from the factory and I've just now noticed it, since I've had the gun two years or so. Is this normal for the Gen 4 due to the much maligned dot on the connector? Is it the extended blade on the trigger safety? Or is it something else? Any help is appreciated.

You may be feeling the trigger bar interface with the firing pin safety. The large "hump" on the trigger bar engages the firing pin safety and pushes it up as you pull the trigger, and this happens right before you hit the "wall" in the trigger pull.

I'd disassemble the slide and make sure the channel for the firing pin safety is clean and free of debris. If it is, and it moves freely when pressing on it manually, you can look at some other things. Personally, I'd do that first though.

The initial pull as you say it do you mean the take up?
Bump behind the back strap is this at the same time the striker is released?

Glock triggers are like a box 'a chocolates....

Detail strip everything, look for something fucky, and put it back together.

In the past week I had a Gen4 34 that a HORRIBLE heavy trigger.  Detailed the lower, couldn't find anything wrong, swapped parts from a good one, same shit, detailed the upper, everything looked good, swapped parts from good one, same shit.  Finally looked in the slide and there was a big chunk of plastic on the back end of the channel liner clogging everything up.  Replaced channel liner and now it feels like a normal Glock.

Gen3 34.  Best factory trigger I've ever felt right out of the box.  Couldn't pay me to touch it....

Swap in a gen3 trigger with trigger bar. Bet that takes care of it.

The "dot on the connector" isn't a bad thing. It's a slightly "lighter" connector to bring gen4 trigger pull down to gen3 level.

It's the interaction between the trigger bar and the firing pin.

I have tested this on a gauge before and the Gen3 vs Gen4 trigger bar is nothing more than a myth.  I have actually seen where a Gen3 bar is better than a Gen4 and vise versa.  Round count has way more to do with the feel of the Glock trigger than the dimple on the trigger bar.  The people who did test on this were testing brand new Gen4s vs well used Gen3s.  I tested this on a multiple used and new Gen3s and Gen4s and my conclusion was that the round count and usage had more to do with feel and trigger pull than Gen3 vs Gen4 bar (using identical connectors).

The dot connector is kind of a bridge between the - and standard no mark connector.

I know exactly what it is. It's the firing pin safety spring not being seated in the firing pin safety properly. You have to use a gentle clockwise twisting motion when putting it in...(that's what she said )

For a mostly stock Gen 4 I recommend
lighter safety plunger spring
polish plunger and trigger bar
copper lube on connector and hump

I've got a gen4 g19 and mine has the same feel. There's a slight thump in the backstraps
When trigger bar pushes on the striker.

Thanks for the help, I disassembled the slide and cleaned around and the bump in the trigger pull is solved. There is still a feel behind the backstrap but as was pointed out this is normal and I don't mind it as long as all is well with the gun.
