Hey All,

I'm interested in getting a G19 for a travel/truck gun.  I have a G17 and love it.  My question with the G19 is how much does not having the finger bumps on the frame affect the feel of the grip?  My hand is a size that it fits on the grip, but the finger bumps are spaced just right to be kinda annoying to me.  I've been looking at Gen 2's but they seem to cost as much as a Gen 3.  Thanks for the help in advance, I appreciate it.

I have shot both G19's w/ and w/o finger grooves and either way was fine by me. I had no issues with the grip on either pistol.

There will be a slight difference from a G17 w/ finger grooves compared to a G19. The G17 will have a touch more room.

One thing you could try is to raise the trigger guard.  If you start with your middle finger crammed in, it will only get worse with each finger.  If you raise the guard so your middle finger has room, your other 2 fingers won't be as cramped.

Take a 3/8-1/2" dowel rod and wrap 800 grit sandpaper around it.  Use that to sand the trigger guard up right where your finger goes.  It also helps to bevel the edge like you see in my second pic.

If you get no grooves, your fingers might actually slide off the grip.

My fingers don't match the grooves & it doesn't bother me a bit.

If you have really bug fingers, the grooves help them stay up.  Otherwise, they might push down off the bottom of the grip.

I think so too. I have rather large hands, and I have never had any of my fingers come close to sliding off.
