My stock Guide rod broke (dropped it then stepped on it )

It works but plastic part broke... any way.

So gona replace it. Figured I would get a fancy Tungsten one, but:

What weight spring do I want for a G34? Use is reliability I don't give a rip abought soft shooting or tuning just bang every time with factoiry 115-124 grn bullets.

Stock GR with springs are cheap, buy a few as they are really the only part that needs replaced at regular maintenance intervals.

I replace mine every 10k rds, although IIRC Glock says to replace them every 5K.

I also recommend sticking with a new stock unit.

If you have to have a metal rod, I'd recommend putting the stock spring on it.  Captured, steel, is great.  Aro-Tek (right in our backyard
) makes a good one.

Weight of stock spring is 17lbs.

Actually the avatar is Blade getting ready to splatter some emo vampire/familiar brains.. put your glasses on, old-timer

Nice score on the AA kit, that was a good find.  I'm looking at the new TacSol kit for my 17, if it ever shows up.

Just throwing it out there but I'm running a tungsten rod in my 35 with no problems.

It was installed by the previous owner and it's working so I left it in.

Nothing wrong with that at all, most of them work fine.  The issues is that it does absolutely nothing over the stocker, so if its a matter of spending your money on a rod vs training and ammo....well, you get where Im going.  For you, it came with it....it works, so who cares....you're good to go!

Yeah, can't say I'd go out and replace it just for the hell of it.

But I have found out that there are people in life with a lot more disposable income than I have.

I run wolf recoil springs and wolf steel rods in all my glocks.  FWIW I've never had a problem with the stock setup, just didn't like it.

I run both stock and Stainless rods.  My carry pistols I run the stock rod but for ones that I take to the range I run stainless in some of them.
