how much bigger is the grip on the hi-cap GI 1911 versus the standard or mil-spec springfield model?

GI Full Size Hi-Cap

i can't seem to find one in a store to actually look at.

I have yet to see one either but I would think it would be similiar to a Para, wouldn't it?

yeah, i'd think... but just curious.

are the GI spec springfields relatively nice pistols or is it worth stepping up to the mil spec model?

The GI model is nice, but IMHO, it is worth stepping up to the Mil Spec. YMMV.

It is similar in size to the para.

Had the chance to try both but chose the para p13/45 because of price, dealer wanted to clear the shelve. Only difference or option I would take would be a checkered front grip for better control when my hand gets sweaty.

Other then changing the sites to NS I have kept the para stock, functions 100% with the mags I have.

I am considering a para carry model lda when the rebate check comes in in may.

Here are some pics showing a Mil-spec Operator and an Ultra Compact High-Capacity.

Operator has hogue grips and the Ultra has stock grips and was propped up so that it was at the same level as the Operator.

and one more...

Hope this helps.

definitely helps... but, i did end up going with the 5" parkerized mil-spec.

figured if i was going to go with a 1911... why not just stick with the standard capacity.
