Hello all, posted this in the 1911 discussions and didn't get much of a response so I figured why not try here...

OK the sights have to go, can anyone recomend a good aftermarket set of drift in rear, stake on front sights?

They don't have to be night sights, just taller and wider than what is there currently. I saw the drift in model that 10-8 makes, does any one have experience with this or similar model? I am not opposed to having the slide machined, I just don't know yet if I trust any one around here to do it.

I like the look of the 10-8 sights...

For the front, Narrow tenon or Wide tenon?

thanks,
lrc

look in the brownell's catalog/website. several makes show stake on front/dovetail rears-considering how difficult it is to get a stake on front sight right and have it stay in place with continued shooting- getting a slide dovetailed for new sights maskes more sense. I beleive wilson combat offers short term(about 10 day?) turn around if you send them the slide for retrofit

Be sure to check out the Novak sight web site. If you send the complete gun in, they'll not only install the new sights but they'll also ensure you shoot to point-of-aim. They actually had to make a new front sight for my USP that shot WAY too high. The piddling extra fee they charge to sight it in is miniscule when compared to the aggravation they saved me.

But Novak is to sights what Brownells is to parts, IMO.

I'm going to get night sites installed on my "GI" by Trijicon. If not night sites check out Brownells like others said, quite a variety.
