Does anyone here carry one in an ankle holster? I am a bigger guy 6'3" 240 and
wear generally fairly baggy jeans that I think would hide it. I have looked at the 27, but it just seems a little too small for my hands, even with a grip ext. What do you all think? |

I think a G23 is a bit to big/heavy for an ankle holster. I carry a G23 as my duty gun and can't imagine that on my ankle. I am 5'-11" 210 LBS FWIW. Yea I can see that, weight wise though it is the same or maybe a little more than a Ruger SP101, which is the other I am debating for an ankle gun.. I love my glock that I have( coming from a 1911 guy) and would really like another, but the 26/27 is just too small.. |

I can't see carrying a compact Glock (19/23/32/38) in an ankle holster. I had read, in some gun magazine, that there was some Deputy that was said to be a huge guy who carried a G23 in an ankle holster but I know that I couldn't do it. The compact sized guns are great guns that serve well for either open or concealed carry but I don't think ankle carry would work.
You would need very loose fitting paint legs in order to get it out in a hurry. I have heard bell bottoms are trying to make a come back. |

Don't worry about what anyone else thinks.....If it works for you (and based on your stated physical size, I can't see why it shouldn't), then run with it. Everyone is different, with different likes/dislikes, etc. It doesn't matter if you're as big as an NFL lineman....if you can't stand the weight of a Keltec P32 on your ankle, then ankle carry is not for you! As long as you can wear it down there without disclosing its location, can access it without falling over, and don't have a problem listing to one side as you walk/run, then it works FOR YOU.
For what its worth, I knew a Federal Agent who carried a S&W agency-issued 10mm in an ankle rig (back when that agency still issued that beast of a weapon!), and another local PD guy who carries his Glock 22 in an ankle rig. The Fed surprised me when I saw him pull it out to store in a lock-box when entering a Federal Courthouse....I never would have imagined anyone carrying that thing on their ankle. The local PD guy also surprised me when he told me thats how/where he carried his G-22. Niether of them ever "printed" the fact that they carried such a large handgun on their ankles. |

I've carried my G23 in an ankle holster before. I have a Galco that just barely fits my gun, but it's tight and I like that. It works for me when I need it. However, it seems really cumbersome to get it out if my pants aren't baggy enough. Not to mention bending over or lifting my leg up to me. |

Im 6'1 and 235. Ok I dont have an ankle holster, but I improvised and got a velcro strap and tied it to my leg. I also wear baggy pants and I tried it. Gun gun was firm against my leg and her are my results.
It was fine and cant really see it unless I was really looking for it or something hit against my leg or sit with your legs angled in any certain way. Its like most other conceal options, you may notice a little bulge if your really really looking. My two favorite carry options: On the hip police or cowboy style, with a jacket over it (I live in a open carry or closed carry state.) Or inside the pants. Out of paranoia of the gun falling out of its holster I still have it on my hip because its easiest to sit in and also walk around. On another note, the Glock 23 is my favorite weapon. I wouldnt trade it for the world. However, I prefer to carry a hammerless S&W .38 Special. It is way lighter, and easier to hide. The main drawback is that if I have to shoot more than 10 feet out from me, im screwed. It also kicks like a mull and is probably the loudest gun I have. |
