| Hey just wondering why doesent glock offer a .45 compact model?? |
FWIW I had a 30 and loved it. You can't go wrong with it. If you've got big paws get grips extensions for the mags. It's definitely wider than the 19 but not longer as COsteve was I think getting at. |

the G30 is the compact good sized double stack .45acp...i love mine; that said, imo, while shorter up front, its wideness/fatness is noticble vs the G23/19 the G36 is the subcompact, and is slimmer; h/w, the slide width is almost the same size as the G23/19/etc (uses most of the same holsters) and is only slightly shorter |

From Glock Website: G23: LENGTH 174 mm / 6.85 in. HEIGHT 127 mm / 5.00 in. WIDTH 30 mm / 1.18 in. BARREL HEIGHT 32 mm / 1.26 in. LINE OF SIGHT 153 mm / 6.02 in. BARREL LENGTH 102 mm / 4.02 in. WEIGHT 600 g / 21.16 oz. LOADED (~) 880 g / 31.03 oz. MAG. CAPACITY Standard: 13 OPTIONAL 15 / 17 G30: LENGTH 172 mm / 6.77 in. HEIGHT 121 mm / 4.76 in. WIDTH 32.5 mm / 1.27 in. BARREL HEIGHT 32 mm / 1.26 in. LINE OF SIGHT 151 mm / 5.95 in. BARREL LENGTH 96 mm / 3.78 in. WEIGHT 680 g / 23.99 oz. LOADED (~) 960 g / 33.86 oz. MAG. CAPACITY Standard: 10 OPTIONAL 9 / 13 So yes, the G23 is marginally longer (+ 2mm) and higher (+ 6mm), however the G30 is wider (+ 2.5mm) and weighs more (+ 80 g loaded) even though it carries 4 less rounds. As thickness and weight are significant elements to CCW use, I believe in viewing the total package, most would say that the G30 is a bigger package than the G23. When I tried them both concealed, I found that the G30 was far more difficult to pack on my frame (5'9" & 180lbs). However, YMMV |
